Sunday brunch café near Apgujeong Rodeo station: Le Bon Goûter

In short

Le Bon Goûter is a brunch café tucked down an alley a short walk from Apgujeong Rodeo station in Gangnam, Seoul. On an early Sunday morning visit, the order was a mushroom galette — a first taste of galette — plus lasagna and two Americanos, chosen from a galette menu of 4 types led by the signature salmon galette. Even at that hour the tables were mostly full, so book a table at Le Bon Goûter before you go.

Some weekends I want to sleep in a little and then have a leisurely brunch. The area around Apgujeong Rodeo station is especially good for this, packed with brunch spots, stylish cafés, and restaurants — great for a date or catching up with friends.

This place was exactly that kind of spot — easy, casual brunch near Apgujeong Rodeo. The food wasn't the only good part; the atmosphere made it a nice place to linger and chat. Even though I went fairly early on a Sunday morning, a surprising number of people were already there, clearly dressed up for the vibe.

If you're looking for a good-looking brunch spot around Apgujeong or Cheongdam, I'm leaving this write-up as a reference.

Where Le Bon Goûter is and what the café feels like

Le Bon Goûter, an Apgujeong galette brunch spot, is an easy walk from Apgujeong Rodeo station. Since it sits down an alley, it's quiet enough to enjoy brunch without the noise. And as you can see from the photos below, the interior and exterior are so pretty that plenty of groups of women were there just to take nice photos.

We sat inside. The view outside is nicely landscaped too, so on a cool, sunny day like this one, it's a nice spot for a date.

Le Bon Goûter's menu and what we ordered

This was my first time trying a galette at this Apgujeong galette spot. It's like a thin bread with various toppings piled on top, and Le Bon Goûter sells four kinds. The signature galette comes topped with salmon, but I wanted mushroom and ham-cheese, so I ordered the mushroom galette. On top of that, two Americanos, and to make it a bit heartier, lasagna too. Even the menu itself was beautifully designed.

How was the mushroom galette at Le Bon Goûter?

The galette came out first. Just looking at it, you might wonder if this could really count as a meal — the feel is a bit like a thin-crust pizza. But it's genuinely delicious. The center had more texture from the filling than the edges, which I liked. And since it's served with all sorts of vegetables, it felt like a properly healthy breakfast.

What exactly is a galette?

Galette is a French dish made from a wide, thin cooked batter topped with ham, cheese, egg, vegetables, and the like. The galettes you typically see at brunch restaurants are usually the buckwheat galette from the Brittany region of France.

You might think the texture is similar to a crepe when you taste it — both are thin batters cooked in a pan — but galettes usually use buckwheat flour and are eaten as a meal or brunch, while crepes are flour-based and more often eaten as dessert. Maybe because it's a traditional French brunch dish, there were quite a few foreign visitors sitting around Apgujeong Rodeo on this Sunday morning too.

The mushroom (roasted mushroom) also came prepared like this, so you could eat it on its own or piled onto the galette — either way it was delicious. Mushrooms are basically tasty to begin with, but these were roasted just right and I enjoyed them a lot.

Why we added the lasagna too

It's really good. Personally, wherever I go, I love ordering lasagna. That distinctive layered texture is just so satisfying.
