A Gwangalli brunch café that opens at 8am
While trying to figure out breakfast early in the morning in Gwangalli, Busan, I heard about an Australian-style café in the area that opens at 8am. It reminded me of the disappointment of failing to get a table at a local brunch café during a trip to Australia last year — so this time, I picked this place to make up for it.

Inside Famous Benny: concrete and warm lighting down a Minnak-dong alley

The exterior wall of Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch left an impression — bare cement finish with no paint at all.

The interior is mostly wood-toned, so you get a nice sense of reversal walking in!
Old-style lamps add a point of interest to spots that could otherwise feel plain, giving the whole space a calm yet distinctive atmosphere.

Second-floor tables and high chairs at Famous Benny
We took a seat toward the back of the second floor — the window seats facing the full glass windows looked perfect for a cup of coffee.

There were tables of various sizes, from two-seaters to four-seaters, and plenty of baby chairs, so it looked convenient for families to visit too.
On one side, wet wipes, sugar, salt, and small plates were all neatly set out.
Famous Benny menu and prices: which brunch should you order?

We ordered one café latte (₩6,000) and, for our meal, The Famous Benny (₩18,000), grilled mushroom toast (₩15,000), and garlic butter egg (₩14,000).

They also sell coffee beans, so check it out if you're interested. Looking back, we ordered three whole meal dishes >< Since Australia is also famous for acai bowls, you might want to try one as a brunch side :)

The café latte arrived first, topped with a heart latte art. And the taste? Smooth and delicious.
Garlic butter egg, the chilli garlic butter dish that stood out most

The first thing we tried, the garlic butter egg (₩14,000), is the dish that's still stuck in my memory.

We broke the poached egg and ate it with the yogurt and chilli garlic butter sauce together — this combination was absolutely the best. If you like yogurt, you'll definitely enjoy this,

the slightly tangy, somewhat spicy sauce was so good that I ended up spooning it onto the other brunch dishes too, haha.

Grilled mushroom toast, 15,000 won
Next up was the grilled mushroom toast (₩15,000), true to its name — piled generously with mushrooms.
It wasn't over-seasoned, so you could simply enjoy the mushrooms' own natural flavor.

The Famous Benny, 18,000 won
Last was The Famous Benny (₩18,000), a dish of croissant bread topped with sabayon sauce, poached egg, and avocado —

it was light yet well-balanced, and I really liked it.
Who Famous Benny in Gwangalli suits best
None of the brunch dishes at Famous Benny felt heavy or over-the-top — they were light and easy to enjoy. The garlic butter egg's sauce especially suited my taste, to the point I want to try making it at home later.
It also seemed like a good spot to sit alone for a light coffee or to get some laptop work done. If you're looking for a fresh, satisfying early-morning meal in Gwangalli, I'd recommend Famous Benny.
