Dalseo, Daegu brunch café for salad pasta: Otter Rabbit House

While looking for somewhere to have brunch with a friend, I visited Otter Rabbit House (오터래빗하우스), known as a brunch café near Wolgwang Waterside Park!

Along with brunch dishes, they also have bakery items, so you can enjoy everything from a meal to café time in one space 👀

Otter Rabbit House’s warm wood-toned space

As soon as I stepped inside, the whole place had a warm wood-toned feel : ) From the wooden tables and chairs to the counter, the wood tones carried through and made the space feel cohesive.

Vintage-style lighting, wall shelves, and little decorative objects all came together naturally.

I especially liked the counter area. Otter Rabbit House’s character was cutely drawn on the chalkboard, while the dark solid-wood furniture and objects on the wall shelves suited the mood of the space so well.

There were plants here and there too, and it was lovely seeing touches of green added among the calm wood tones 👍🏻

It has a comfortable yet atmospheric feel, so it would be great for brunch with friends or for a date!

If you are looking for an atmospheric brunch café near Wolgwang Waterside Park, Otter Rabbit House Café is worth keeping in mind.

Brunch dishes and bakery items

There was an array of breads displayed along one side too! We had come for brunch, but naturally my eyes went straight to the bread, haha.

We had decided to have brunch that day, so we did not order any bread separately 😊

We ordered two dishes: Bulgogi Shrimp Salad Pasta and Ragu Tteokbokki : )

Bulgogi Shrimp Salad Pasta piled high with vegetables

The salad pasta in particular looked generous, with vegetables filling the plate! The Bulgogi Shrimp Salad Pasta came with plenty of different European lettuces, including butterhead, which I love!

There were lots of different vegetables, and that was the part I personally loved most 😆

The overall flavor was fresh, making it nice for brunch. With bulgogi (Korean marinated beef), salad, and pasta together, it was easy to eat without feeling heavy, haha.

The salad pasta was good on its own, but I liked the combination even more when I had it with the Ragu Tteokbokki!

The combination with mild Ragu Tteokbokki

We chose the mild Ragu Tteokbokki! You can choose between mild and spicy for the Ragu Tteokbokki, and we went with mild, haha.

It was savory, and it was fun to eat the potatoes, carrots, and tteok (chewy rice cakes) inside together. Each had a different texture, so it did not feel like one continuous texture and came together nicely : )

With the potatoes and carrots alongside the chewy tteok, each bite felt a little different. I am not usually great at describing flavors in detail, but personally, the way the different textures came together is what stayed with me, haha.

And while eating this dish, I thought we had made a good call ordering the salad pasta too. Since the Ragu Tteokbokki leaned savory, having fresh salad pasta in between made the contrasting flavors work really well together.

If the two dishes had tasted similar, they might have felt a little monotonous, but one was savory and the other fresh, so they were great to alternate between 👍🏻

A brunch in Dowon-dong where I enjoyed the atmosphere too

Even after finishing our meal, I looked around the café again and felt that the visual appeal of the brunch dishes really matched the mood of the space 😚

With solid-wood furniture, warm lighting, plants, and vintage objects, it was also nice for photos. It is great for a relaxed brunch with a friend, but personally, I felt the atmosphere would suit a date really well too.

If you like cafés where you can enjoy the mood of the space as much as the food, rather than rushing out after a quick meal, Otter Rabbit House would be a good match.

My overall thoughts after visiting

At Otter Rabbit House this time, I got to enjoy an atmospheric space along with brunch.

The Bulgogi Shrimp Salad Pasta was lovely because it had plenty of different vegetables and felt fresh to eat,

and the mild Ragu Tteokbokki was a savory dish where the different textures of potatoes, carrots, and tteok came together. Above all, I personally liked how well balanced the flavors were when alternating between the two dishes.

It is the kind of place I think of when I want brunch and a leisurely time in an atmospheric space. After this visit, I found myself thinking I would like to go back at least once.
