Daegu Korean BBQ restaurant with a bingsu bar: Gankeun Galbi

A filling day of meat and the self-serve bar in Seongseo

Today I visited Gankeun Galbi Seongseo Branch (간큰갈비 성서점), where you can enjoy all-you-can-eat meat at a great price in Igok-dong, Dalseo-gu—and the self-serve bar has everything from chicken, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), fried foods and ramen to dessert. Such a good place for a seriously filling meal!

Unlimited ribs in Seongseo!! I ran there immediately 🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️ There is a dedicated parking lot beneath the restaurant, so parking was easy too!

Pork ribs for ₩20,000, with extra-charge options too

The value here is crazy, haha. Pork ribs are only ₩20,000! Pork belly, makchang (grilled beef intestine), and beef rib meat are available for an extra charge!

As soon as you walk in, there is the self-serve bar.

Next to it was a large playroom for children! Most customers were families visiting with kids 🧑🧑🧒🧒 The tables are beside a floor-to-ceiling glass window, so you can watch the children play without any interruption to your meal!

Every table has a tablet, so ordering is easy too!

You need to change the grill plate often when eating ribs, and there was one right beside the table! I loved being able to replace the grill plate ourselves!! You can use it comfortably without having to feel self-conscious~

Now, let’s go look around the self-serve bar..! What really impressed me at Gankeun Galbi Seongseo Branch was how varied it was! Chicken, tteokbokki, fried foods and more were ready to go, so you could freely enjoy snacks or side dishes between bites of meat, haha.

Not only the basic ingredients to eat with the meat,

but Jjapagetti and ramen too...!!?!! You could cook whichever one you wanted yourself! I chose Jjapagetti ✔️✔️ hahaha.

I was also happy that dessert was ready after the meal! You can make your own bingsu (shaved ice dessert) at the self-serve bar, and there is ice cream too, so after a hearty meat feast, you can finish cool and sweet 🍧💗

From marinated ribs to makchang and pork belly

Now... time to eat the meat, haha. Starting with the ribs!!!

While the ribs were grilling, here are the chicken, tteokbokki and fried foods I brought from the self-serve bar 💟 Since the ribs are marinated, you need to flip, flip them quickly! Be careful—look away for a moment and all your meat will burn, hahaha 😭 Ribs never disappoint ㅠㅠ👏🏻 So delicious ㅠㅠ They were amazing with rice too!

After those sweet, salty marinated ribs... how could I resist soju~!|~!!! A cold soju right away!! Hahaha.

After two plates of ribs, I changed to the makchang and pork belly grill and had another plate~! Grilled until nicely browned, the makchang was savory on the outside and chewy inside, while the pork belly developed such a wonderfully savory flavor as it browned on the grill, haha.

I ate sooo well right through to the end 👏🏻 My ranking is ribs >> makchang > pork belly, haha, for your reference~~~! Being able to enjoy unlimited makchang, pork belly and pork ribs made it great value, and the self-serve bar had chicken, tteokbokki, fried foods, Jjapagetti and ramen, so there was lots to eat beyond the meat! Plus, with ice cream and bingsu, you can take care of everything from the meal to dessert in one go!
