Hi, this is Dorahee :) This Jeonju trip was a 1-night, 2-day getaway with just the three of us — my mom, my daughter, and me.
Coming all the way to Jeonju Hanok Village just to look around felt like a waste, so I decided the three of us should make a special memory together, and we went to Gwijok Uisangsil Hanbok Jeonju Hanok Village Branch.
Traveling three generations deep — mom, daughter, and me — isn't something that happens often, so this time we decided to actually wear hanbok (traditional Korean dress) and get proper photos taken.
Where is Gwijok Uisangsil in Jeonju Hanok Village, and what are its hours?
Gwijok Uisangsil Hanbok Jeonju Hanok Village Branch is on the 1st floor at 17-5 Choemyeonghui-gil, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk, South Korea. It's open 10:00–18:00 Monday through Friday and Sunday, and 10:00–19:00 on Saturdays.
It's about a 5-minute walk from both Gyeonggijeon Shrine and Jeondong Cathedral, so it's a great spot to change into hanbok before wandering around Jeonju Hanok Village.
If you're driving, you can use the Jeonju Hanok Village public parking lot, and at the time of our visit there was a 50% parking discount available.
How much does hanbok rental cost in Jeonju Hanok Village, and what do you get for booking ahead?
As explained to us at the time of our visit, hanbok rental for wearing outside the shop at Gwijok Uisangsil was priced as follows.

There was also a perk where booking through Naver Reservation before visiting got you all-day rental at no extra charge, so if you're planning to wear hanbok and stroll around the hanok village slowly, it's worth checking that booking perk.
If you just want to shoot inside the shop, there's also a package: costume rental at ₩15,000 per person, with snap photography added for ₩10,000 per person.
Hanbok sizes from toddler to 2XL, plus concept costumes
The moment we walked in, there were so many costume options that just picking what to wear was fun in itself.
They had everything from infant sizes to adult sizes, and adult costumes ranged from S to 2XL, so it was easy to pick something that fit.
Beyond basic traditional hanbok, there were also concept costumes you don't get to wear every day — enlightenment-era (gaehwagi) outfits, warrior costumes, royal dragon robes, court eunuch outfits, and even gisaeng or magistrate (sato) looks.
There were also plenty of accessories to match the hanbok — hairpieces, hats, bags — so you could put together a full look from head to accessories, not just the outfit.
My mom went for a glamorous, luxurious style, my daughter picked something bright and cheerful to her own taste, and I chose a design I'd never normally get to wear. Picking out outfits for each other was fun from the start, haha.
When I visited it was still pretty hot out, so I worried wearing hanbok would be too warm, but the shop was nicely air-conditioned, so it was comfortable even while we picked out and got ready in our outfits.
The interior also had more of a luxurious, enlightenment-era atmosphere than a typical hanbok rental shop, so it was a nice spot for photos even inside the store.
The professional photographer snap shoot, indoors and in the hanok village alleys
What I was especially looking forward to was the snap photography. When you travel, you take tons of photos, but usually one person is always behind the camera, so you rarely end up with a shot of all three of you — mom, daughter, and me — together.
At Gwijok Uisangsil, a professional photographer handles the shoot using professional equipment, which made things much easier. You can shoot both indoors and outdoors, and they had various props and photo zones matched to different hanbok and concepts, so every photo came out with a different mood.
Walking through the actual alleys and hanok scenery of Jeonju Hanok Village in hanbok while getting photos taken felt much more immersive than just sightseeing. The mood was completely different from photos taken in everyday clothes, and it ended up being one of the most memorable experiences of this Jeonju trip.
How long do retouching and printing take?
After the shoot, you get to pick your favorite photos yourself to have retouched. They said a specialist with over 3 years of studio experience handles the Photoshop retouching, and I liked that it wasn't the kind of retouching that drastically changes your face — it kept our natural look while just tidying things up.
Travel photos can look awkward if they're retouched too artificially, so I appreciated that even the photo with my mom and daughter came out looking natural.
The snap photography package included one retouched, printed photo per person, and they said retouching and printing together can take about 30–40 minutes depending on the situation. It's a good chance to grab a meal nearby or explore the hanok village a bit more while you wait.
At the time of our visit, there was also a review event being promoted. There was an event you could join when using hanbok rental or snap photography, but the perks and details can change depending on the season, so it's worth checking with staff again when you visit.

What made this hanbok rental in Jeonju Hanok Village especially good wasn't just wearing pretty hanbok — it was that my mom, my daughter, and I got to share the same experience and capture it in photos together.
Three generations, each picking out the hanbok we liked and taking photos for each other while laughing the whole time — it turned into one of the most memorable moments of our 1-night, 2-day Jeonju trip.
