Haeandae-ro, Masan Korean set-meal & parking tips: Masan Ssamjangjip
In short
Masan Ssamjangjip is a Korean set-meal restaurant on the second floor at 65 Haeandae-ro in Masanhappo-gu, Changwon. Arriving right at opening meant no wait for the pork bulgogi set for two, which came with nearly 30 side dishes, a seafood doenjang stew full of blue crab, stir-fried pork, river-snail ssamjang (soybean dipping sauce) and leaves for wrapping. A free dessert self-bar with rice cakes, shine muscat grapes and coffee made the meal feel like a nobleman's banquet.

I went to a Masan restaurant I'd been dying to try, Ssamjangjip, and honestly had a day fit for royalty. This is the story of the Korean set-meal restaurant 'Ssamjangjip.'

Where to park at Masan Ssamjangjip: Haeyang Park Parking Lot 1
For parking at this Masan restaurant, use Haeyang Park Parking Lot 1 across the street. A few spots looked available on the roadside right in front of the restaurant too, but I parked in the lot for peace of mind and just walked across.

Inside Masan Ssamjangjip: the dining room and the dessert self-bar
Walking in felt like stepping into a nobleman's house — grain sacks piled up, folding screens on the walls, a warm and tidy atmosphere. Everything was well organized enough to seat a big group comfortably.
The dessert self-bar caught my eye right away. They even had a self-serve ramyeon (Korean instant noodle) machine, with several noodle varieties — amazing. But since I'd read a review saying nearly 30 side dishes come out, I held back and saved room in case I needed dessert after.
The private rooms were really well set up, and I saw a lot of groups actually using them for gatherings. There was a baby chair and restrooms right inside too, which was convenient.
They served barley tea instead of plain bottled water, so from the very first sip I could tell how much care went into everything.

Ordering the pork bulgogi set for two: three mains to choose from
I ordered the basic pork bulgogi set for two. I liked that you could choose the main from pork bulgogi, braised beef short ribs, or grilled mackerel. You can also add extras, so if you want to try a few different mains, go ahead and order more.

Nearly 30 side dishes: a table that keeps unfolding
When the food started coming out after I ordered, I was speechless. It's not so much that a table gets set as that a table unfolds. Small plates lined the entire edge of the table, and when I counted, the side dishes alone came to nearly 30. Seasoned bean sprouts, seasoned eggplant, lotus root, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), soy-braised quail eggs, seasoned garlic scapes, pickled cucumber, all kinds of namul (seasoned vegetables) — not one of them felt like an afterthought. Each plate had a different color, so my eyes lit up before I even tasted anything, and once I started, each bite tasted like something carefully made at home, so I couldn't put my chopsticks down.

In the center sat the bigger plates — the almost-mains. Tangy fresh kimchi, tofu drizzled with sesame oil and topped with kimchi, and a crisp red kimchi pancake fried up nicely. The kimchi pancake especially had golden, crispy edges that made my mouth water just looking at it.

How do the blue crab doenjang stew and stir-fried pork taste?
The empty space in the middle is where the main dishes land. Today's stars had arrived: a seafood doenjang (soybean paste) stew loaded with crab, and sizzling pork bulgogi. The moment I took a spoonful of the broth, the savory doenjang flavor gave way to a burst of clean sweetness from the crab, and I couldn't help but say out loud, 'wow, this is good.'
The pork bulgogi had a hint of smoky char and the seasoning soaked in perfectly — total rice thief. Going back and forth between the clean stew and the rich, savory pork felt like pure happiness.

River-snail ssamjang and wrap leaves: why it's called Ssamjangjip
On one side of the table sat a heaping pile of fresh lettuce and greens for wrapping. This is exactly where you feel why it's named 'Ssamjangjip' (literally 'ssamjang house') — spooning on the river snail ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste dip) served in a small stone bowl and wrapping it up instantly refreshes your palate. Piling rice and side dishes into a wrap and taking a big bite, I got it — this is the signature Ssamjangjip flavor.
There was even a not-so-common cheonggak (sea vegetable) side dish. I ate with real gusto.
The best part after the meal: the free dessert self-bar
But the real twist at this place comes after the meal. The self-bar was seriously well stocked, and the taste was genuinely good too. Songpyeon (half-moon rice cake), bean-powder rice cake, peanut snacks, and even sweet shine muscat grapes were all there, plus warm coffee to drink. Filling up on 30 side dishes and then getting dessert taken care of like this — just great.

The coffee was seasoned just right too, very good. It really felt like being served a nobleman's feast. Picking up a grape, a piece of rice cake, and sipping coffee for a little break was the perfect way to wrap up the meal.
Waiting, reservations and who to bring to Masan Ssamjangjip
I went right at opening so there was no wait, but given how generous and delicious everything is, there could well be a wait at other times, so calling ahead to reserve seems like a good idea. This is a place that delivers over 30 side dishes, a crab-packed seafood doenjang stew, hearty pork bulgogi, and a solid dessert spread on top of it all.
It would be great to bring your parents, and it's more than fitting for a family gathering or a meal with friends too. Located right on Masan's coastal road, it's also a perfect stop on a drive. With a generous full-table spread, a delicious main dish, and a complete dessert self-bar, this Masan restaurant Ssamjangjip really doesn't miss a beat. Highly recommend.
