Mannyeon Dakgangjeong

Mon–Fri 11:00–21:00 Sat, Sun 10:00–22:00 No closed days
I visited Mannyeon Dakgangjeong (만년닭강정), located in Jeonju Hanok Village, and wanted to share it with you! Dakgangjeong (Korean sweet-spicy fried chicken) is perfect to grab as takeout and eat at a nearby pavilion or at Gyeonggijeon Shrine when you get hungry while sightseeing. I went because I heard this place fries its dakgangjeong using 100% chicken thigh meat, so let me introduce it in detail~

Inside the shop — no seats, takeout only
Here's the interior! There's no space to sit and eat inside, it's takeout only. The clean interior lets you watch the food being made, and the frying area looked so tidy that I felt I could trust the food~

The dakgangjeong, fried in clean oil, gets drained on a rack, then tossed with sauce right next to it before being packed up immediately~ They said they use fresh fruit sauce, which made me trust it even more!

Menu and prices
Here's Mannyeon Dakgangjeong's menu~ There's dakgangjeong and a mixed dakgangjeong-and-shrimp-gangjeong menu, available in mild, medium, spicy, soy sauce, and fried flavors, plus drinks, beer, soju, moju (sweet rice wine), and makgeolli to go with the chicken.

Moju came in three sizes: small ₩3,000, medium ₩5,000, and large ₩7,000.

They also sold draft beer — 500cc for ₩5,000 and 1,000cc for ₩8,000! I'd heard there are more and more foreign tourists in the hanok village these days, and sure enough, there was an English menu too~

Besides dakgangjeong, they also sold sotteok sotteok (rice cake and sausage skewers), sweet potato cheese sticks, fried jjondeugi (chewy taffy snack), and cheese balls. They all looked great to eat alongside the dakgangjeong.

Onnuri gift certificates accepted
It was nice that I could pay with Onnuri gift certificates too.

How was the large dakgangjeong?
This is what we ordered! The moment it came out, a delicious seasoned aroma hit my nose. It's dakgangjeong made with crispy-fried chicken coated in a sweet, rich sauce — crunchy on the outside with sauce evenly worked through~
The sweet-salty, savory sauce made it the perfect easy food to eat while touring the hanok village or to take home~

After carrying it all the way home
We took it home and ate it there~! Mannyeon Dakgangjeong uses 100% boneless chicken thigh meat! With the first bite, I noticed the crispy exterior and the chewy, sauce-coated texture first, and it was so delicious~

Above all, the sauce didn't just sit on the surface — it blended well into the chicken, so every bite brought out sweet, salty umami with a gentle hint of spice~ Since the sauce uses fresh fruit, it was lighter than a heavy syrup-based sauce, so I could eat it all without getting tired of the flavor!
To sum up
27 Taejo-ro, Wansan-gu, Jeonju, South Korea, 1st floor. Mannyeon Dakgangjeong, located in Jeonju Hanok Village, will satisfy anyone looking for easy food to enjoy on the go~ The 100% thigh meat is moist and tender, with a crispy coating and a well-applied sweet-salty sauce — even little kids ate the mild flavor happily~ Highly recommend it if you're looking for simple street food!
