Omegi-tteok I found as a Jeju travel souvenir
One shopping-list essential you just can't leave out of a Jeju trip is Jeju omegi-tteok (traditional rice cake). While looking for delicious omegi-tteok on this trip, I stopped by Suragan Tteokbang (수라간떡방). I used to think omegi-tteok only came in the traditional version filled with whole red beans, but there were far more flavors than I expected. If you're looking for something a little more special as a Jeju travel souvenir, omegi-tteok seems like a great choice.

When I picked up my luggage on the way home later, I saw so many people carrying boxes of omegi-tteok too. It really is a popular Jeju souvenir! If you're looking for great Jeju omegi-tteok, I recommend Suragan Tteokbang!!

Suragan Tteokbang omegi-tteok flavor selection
Suragan Tteokbang was the first result that came up when I searched for Jeju omegi-tteok. It specializes in omegi-tteok. It's a nice place to stop if you're looking for gifts for family or friends while traveling in Jeju. What I especially loved was the wide variety of flavors!

Suragan Tteokbang's Jeju omegi-tteok comes in six flavors: red bean, nuts, soybean powder, black sesame, tangerine, and barley. Omegi-tteok had only made me think of red bean before, but having so many options made choosing and tasting them so much fun. I loved being able to try several flavors at once. It seems especially fitting for anyone looking for a souvenir you can only find in Jeju, haha.

Reserve ahead for easy pickup
I reserved ahead before visiting! The kind owner took out my reserved rice cakes right away, so I could pick them up comfortably without waiting. I was surprised to see just how many orders had been reserved when I visited. It really made me think this must be a popular spot in Jeju. I was glad I had reserved in advance. The packaging was neat too, making them easy to take along as gifts or snacks during a Jeju trip.

How to store and thaw omegi-tteok
The shop also had rice cakes ready to eat right away. They said to freeze omegi-tteok as soon as you get it home after purchase. When you're ready to eat, let it thaw naturally or microwave it for about 30 seconds, and it will be just right.

Gift packaging that works well for a Jeju trip
The boxes were neat and packaged for easy carrying, so I thought they would make nice Jeju travel gifts too. They say food that looks good tastes good, right? Since everything was packaged so neatly and prettily, I think the recipient would feel happy too. They weren't burdensome to carry while traveling, and as a special snack you can only taste in Jeju, they were perfect for gifting.

Best of all, I loved that they were individually wrapped so you can take them out one at a time. They were great to keep in the freezer and enjoy whenever the mood struck.

Individual purchases and delivery orders
You can also buy them individually, so anyone wanting to try a little of several flavors can choose without pressure. They can gift-wrap sets of 5 or 10 pieces too, which seemed useful when preparing a small gift.

Delivery is also available for anyone who finds it difficult to buy omegi-tteok in Jeju in person. The price includes an ice pack and shipping, so keep that in mind if you'd like to order more after your Jeju trip or receive them comfortably at home, haha.

Besides omegi-tteok, glutinous rice cake and injeolmi (Korean pounded rice cake) are available for delivery too!

Suragan Tteokbang's Jeju omegi-tteok lets you choose from many flavors, from red bean to tangerine, black sesame, and barley. If you've been looking for delicious omegi-tteok in Jeju, I recommend it both as a gift and as a snack to enjoy with family.
