Ulsan tteok shop for wedding favors in Sinjeong-dong: Baekho Tteokbang
In short
Baekho Tteokbang is a pumpkin injeolmi (pounded rice cake) shop on the first floor of the Geukdong Star Class mixed-use building in Sinjeong-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan. While researching wedding favors, the writer bought one medium pack of Baekho-tteok, coated in castella crumb, and one of Heukho-tteok, coated in black sesame, both filled with yellow sweet pumpkin rice cake that was chewy and not overly sweet. Favor sets at Baekho Tteokbang must be ordered in advance, and the writer would gladly buy the tteok again with her own money.

Baekho Tteokbang in Sinjeong-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan is a wedding-favor rice cake shop selling 'Baekho-tteok' — castella-dusted pumpkin injeolmi — and 'Heukho-tteok' — black sesame pumpkin injeolmi.

With my wedding coming up, I've been busy figuring out wedding favors these days 😵💫🩷 Apparently it's too late to think about it after the honeymoon, so people order everything in advance before they leave?!
So while looking for tasteful rice cakes or desserts at a reasonable price per guest, I found a decent tteok shop and wanted to share it. The favor sets need to be reserved in advance, so I first tried just the rice cakes that go into the set 😊
Where is Baekho Tteokbang, and what are its hours?

Baekho Tteokbang, a popular tteok shop in Nam-gu, Ulsan, is on the first floor of the Geukdong Star Class mixed-use apartment building in Sinjeong-dong.

It's marked as units 105 and 106! It's right on the main street, next to Bonjuk.

It's near my workplace, so I'd been curious about this tteok shop ever since it was getting ready to open, and I finally visited 😊 My coworkers were curious about it too, so I figured I'd try it and report back haha

Inside Baekho Tteokbang and its gift wrapping

A great tteok shop for wrapping gifts for older relatives too 🩷 Lots of people were getting the bojagi (traditional cloth) wrapping! This kind of trendy, upscale rice cake would also make a nice Chuseok gift.

Since it's called Baekho Tteokbang, there's even a cute 'baekho' (white tiger) doll 😊 The elegant ceramic interior felt more traditionally Korean and looked really pretty.

This is how it can be wrapped as a gift!!! There's a variety of wrapping paper and containers to choose from 🩷 The bojagi wrapping costs an extra ₩2,000!
Baekho Tteokbang tteok types and prices

Unlike a typical tteok shop that sells all sorts of different rice cakes, Baekho Tteokbang only sells its own signature rice cakes! It has a similar vibe to the trendy Changeok-tteok that's popular these days 😊

Here's the price list for Baekho Tteokbang, a tteok shop in Nam-gu, Ulsan!
- 📍 Baekho-tteok is castella pumpkin injeolmi
- 📍 Heukho-tteok is black sesame pumpkin injeolmi
Both sound so good, right....🩷 I bought a medium pack of each so I could try both 😊🩷

When I visited the shop, they were also selling mugwort tteok (ssukho-tteok)!! It looked like it would be soft and really delicious too.
Why the large Baekho-tteok is the bojagi-wrapped gift size

This is the large size of Baekho-tteok, which people often wrap in bojagi as gifts for older relatives 😊😊 It's nice that the rice cake is already cut into easy-to-eat pieces!
How did the Baekho-tteok and Heukho-tteok medium packs taste?
The medium pack from Baekho Tteokbang came nicely packed in a paper box! I carried it home carefully and dug in as soon as I got there~

It's wrapped tightly in plastic wrap so there's no worry about the powder spilling!! It doesn't leak even if you turn it upside down~~~ I really liked that it was cut into perfect bite-sized pieces!! The medium pack had a decent amount too!! This size seems good for sharing different flavors with family.

The colors are so pretty ㅠㅠ Both the Baekho-tteok and Heukho-tteok look great!! The powders are different colors and flavors, but the rice cake inside is both a yellow-orange sweet pumpkin color!

The Baekho-tteok rice cake is really chewy, and the castella powder coating on the outside is so good... genuinely delicious ㅠㅠ The Heukho-tteok was tasty too, but this Baekho-tteok was more my style! It felt like eating a super chewy rice cake, or maybe bread? 🩷
You can see the yellow sweet pumpkin rice cake here ❤️ There's nothing better as a healthy snack~~~

The Heukho-tteok is really nutty thanks to the black sesame ✨️ My mom said the Heukho-tteok tasted better haha, so it might be more of an older generation's taste! The Heukho-tteok also has sweet pumpkin rice cake inside, so it's chewy too.
Soft, crowd-pleasing castella pumpkin injeolmi! It's not too sweet, so both adults and kids can enjoy it 🩷 They also offer favor sets, so I'd recommend it for wedding favors or other event gifts!
Would the writer buy from Baekho Tteokbang again?
Yes, I'd definitely go back!
It was a tteok shop I wanted to buy from again even with my own money 😊
