Milmyeon lunch, weekend 10-minute wait: Seomyeon Milmyeon, Busan
In short
Seomyeon Milmyeon is a milmyeon (cold buckwheat noodle) restaurant in Busanjin, Busan, inside the Eos Plaza building near Seomyeon Station. Even arriving after 2pm on a weekend, there was a 10-minute wait, and ordering both water milmyeon and bibim milmyeon plus dumplings made for a good side-by-side comparison. The clean water milmyeon broth and the sweet-tangy bibim milmyeon paired with warm broth on the side were the highlights.

Weekend lunch at Seomyeon starts with a wait

I went to Seomyeon Milmyeon with my older brother for weekend lunch. Even though we arrived after 2pm, there was a line, so we waited about 10 minutes before getting a table.

It was late for a weekend lunch, but the place was packed with no empty tables, and there were tons of foreign tourists too. It really felt like Busan milmyeon has become a must-eat item for tourists as well.

A short but solid menu

- (Water) Milmyeon ₩10,000
- Bibim Milmyeon ₩10,000
- Large portion +₩1,000
- Dumplings ₩7,500
- Extra noodles ₩3,000
The menu is simple: water milmyeon, bibim milmyeon, and dumplings. You can also add a large portion for ₩1,000 or extra noodles for ₩3,000.

The origin labeling caught my eye too — the chili flakes and radish kimchi are domestic, and the beef is from Australia, which gave me confidence in the ingredients. We ordered water milmyeon, bibim milmyeon, and dumplings together.
Water milmyeon: clean, cold, and savory

I took a first sip of the water milmyeon broth and it was really clean. It wasn't sharp or overpowering, but there was a subtle savoriness that kept making me want another sip.

The chewy noodles with the cold broth felt like the perfect thing to eat on a hot day. The boiled beef, radish kimchi, cucumber strips, sauce, and sesame seeds on top gave it a nice texture to chew through, and the beef was shredded along the grain so it soaked up the broth's savoriness even more.
Bibim milmyeon: the combo of tangy-sweet sauce and broth

The bibim milmyeon had a spicy-sweet sauce mixed evenly through the noodles, with a clear tanginess that wasn't harsh, so I kept going back for more. What really worked was eating it alongside warm broth.

Taking a sip of the warm broth between spicy-tangy bites of noodles cleaned up my palate and made each next bite even better. That temperature contrast is what made the bibim milmyeon so appealing.
Solid dumplings to round it out

The dumplings we ordered were impressive too. The wrapper was thin but still had a chewy bite, and cutting one open showed a generous filling of vegetables and meat.
Alternating between milmyeon and dumplings made the meal even more filling. They weren't salty, and the natural flavor of the ingredients came through, so I could keep eating without feeling weighed down.
Restaurant atmosphere and the self-serve bar

The interior had that nostalgic feel typical of an old-school milmyeon place, and turnover was fast, so even with a wait, tables opened up quickly. On one side there was a sign reading "Self-Serve Bar," with spoons, baby forks, and small plates ready for people to grab as needed.
The side dish bowls and plates were neatly organized by type, so the help-yourself system was convenient rather than a hassle. Seeing baby forks set out for families with kids made me feel like they'd thought about guests of all ages.
Celebrity autographs and the "don't cut with scissors" sign

The wall was covered with autographs from celebrities who'd visited over the years. Looking closely, I recognized quite a few well-known names, which made it clear this is a restaurant that's been loved by many people for a long time.

There was also a sign on the wall explaining how to best enjoy the milmyeon, noting that since the noodles are soft, cutting them with scissors reduces the texture and flavor. It felt like a real statement of confidence in the noodles themselves.
Seomyeon Milmyeon: final thoughts

If you're looking for an approachable milmyeon spot right in the middle of Seomyeon, I'd recommend Seomyeon Milmyeon. Being able to compare two styles in one sitting — the clean broth of the water milmyeon and the sweet-tangy sauce of the bibim milmyeon paired with warm broth — was the real appeal. This is a place I'd want to come back to the next time I'm in Seomyeon.
