Premium sushi upgrade and ramen add-on in Jung-gu, Busan: Moshi Moshi

Hello! I went to Lotte Department Store Gwangbok to shop and grab a bite, and while scanning the food court I wasn't in the mood for anything heavy like meat — I wanted something clean and light, so I picked Moshi Moshi Sushi Lotte Department Store Gwangbok. It made for a solid lunch, so let me tell you about it!

Where is Moshi Moshi Sushi in Lotte Department Store Gwangbok, and where do you park?

Moshi Moshi Sushi is on the 10th floor of the main building at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok. It's easy to reach from Nampo Station, and being able to shop and eat in one trip made the whole outing pretty convenient. When you're looking for lunch spots near Nampo Station, parking is usually the tricky part, but since this is inside the department store, it was easy to visit by car too.

There was a wait since I went during lunchtime, so make sure to book ahead on Catch Table before you go! (Naver Reservation works too!)

For parking, just use the Lotte Department Store Gwangbok parking lot. Around Nampo-dong and Gwangbok-dong, finding parking on weekends can be a whole ordeal in itself, so being able to shop and eat here in one place is a real advantage. It's an especially convenient sushi spot at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok for days when I already have errands at the department store.

What the restaurant feels like inside

The interior overall was neat and tidy. Rather than a rowdy izakaya-style spot for drinks, it felt like a calm place to have a proper meal, which suits both lunch and dinner. It's comfortable for a date and just as fine for a family visit, so it's worth keeping in mind if you're looking for Japanese food near Nampo.

What comes in set no. 2, and what the noodle upgrades cost

I expected a sushi restaurant to mostly just have different types of sushi, but the menu actually had sets, full-course spreads, à la carte dishes and noodle dishes too. You can keep it simple with just sushi, or go for a set like we did to try several things at once. I went with set no. 2 after browsing the menu.

Set no. 2 turned out to be more filling than expected. It comes with 16 pieces of sushi, chashu, vegetable salad, tofu salad, miso soup and noodles. You get to choose the noodles — udon has no extra charge, buckwheat noodles (soba) is +₩2,000, and ramen is +₩4,000! I love ramen, so I paid the extra ₩4,000 and picked that. On top of that, I also upgraded the sushi from the standard to premium sushi, which added more to the bill. At first I thought the price was climbing with all these add-ons, but once the full spread arrived, the portions were genuinely generous.

The vegetable salad and tofu salad

The vegetable salad and tofu salad came out alongside the sushi, so I started with those to ease in. Amid strong-flavored dishes like sushi, chashu and ramen, having the salads to pick at in between was a nice palate reset. There was even a separate tofu salad, so ordering just one set still gave a good variety of things to work through.

And now the main event — 16 pieces of sushi! I debated sticking with the standard option, but figured since I'd come for sushi, I might as well do it properly, so I paid the extra fee for the premium sushi upgrade. I liked that it wasn't the same type repeated over and over — you get to pick through several different kinds one by one — and the ingredients overall seemed in good shape.

16 pieces of sushi is already a decent amount on its own, and with chashu and ramen on top, it was quite filling. If you're after a hearty meal from the sushi menu at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok, a set like this is a better choice than à la carte dishes.

The unexpected star: chashu on top of the ramen

Honestly, right up until I ordered, my attention was almost entirely on the sushi. But once I actually started eating, the thing I kept reaching for, surprisingly, was the chashu.

The chashu was really tender — almost no chewiness or dryness to it — genuinely soft and delicious.

Then at some point I spotted my ramen and just dropped a piece of chashu on top, and that combo was incredible! Taking the tender chashu that came on the side and piling it onto the hot ramen made the whole thing taste like it was chashu ramen all along. Ramen costs ₩4,000 more than the default noodle option, so it might give you pause, but personally I was glad I picked it just for this combo with the chashu. If you're a ramen fan, definitely save a few pieces of chashu and try this!

So this wasn't the cheapest way to eat here if you're just going by value for money. But you get 16 pieces of sushi, chashu, two kinds of salad, miso soup and ramen all together, and the overall balance of the meal was great! It seems especially well suited to people who find sushi alone a little underwhelming. What to know before you order at Moshi Moshi Sushi

The final price for set no. 2 changes depending on your noodle choice. To avoid extra charges, go with udon; buckwheat noodles add ₩2,000, and the ramen I had adds ₩4,000. On top of that, upgrading to premium sushi also adds a fee, so it's worth checking your desired combination and the final total when you order. And if you go with ramen, don't eat all your chashu right away! Topping the ramen with it was genuinely a hidden gem.

Moshi Moshi Sushi was where I ended up when sushi cravings hit while shopping at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok! I went with set no. 2, upgraded to premium sushi, and chose ramen — and I liked being able to enjoy so many different dishes in one spread. The ramen and premium sushi upgrade did add extra cost, but the sushi was solid, and the biggest surprise was how soft and delicious the chashu turned out to be. It was even better piled onto the ramen.
