Pyeongtaek BBQ restaurant course ending in beef galbisal: Ihwajeong
In short
Ihwajeong Charcoal-Grilled Pork Galbi is a charcoal pork galbi restaurant on Manse-ro in Sosabeol, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi. On a Saturday evening drive, the writer ordered Ihwajeong's seasoned pork grill and seasoned pork galbi, then finished the meal with beef galbisal, mul-naengmyeon, and a pear dessert. With sweet-savory sauce and a subtle charcoal aroma, it's a great pick for a day craving both pork galbi and beef in one sitting.

Tirang and I had such gorgeous weather this weekend that we went for a drive, and by dinner I was craving sweet-and-savory pork galbi, so I'm here to introduce Ihwajeong Charcoal-Grilled Pork Galbi haha.

Review event
There's a Naver review event running too! Leave a nice photo and review and you get 100% Mungyeong omija (schisandra berry) ade haha.
What's the vibe like inside?
The place was spacious and clean, so the overall atmosphere felt really comfortable! There were plenty of tables, plus separate group seating, so it seemed like a great spot for family meals, gatherings, or group dinners haha.
Maybe because it was the weekend, there were a lot of families there, but even with quite a few guests, the space was so spacious it never felt cramped or crowded! The tables were also spaced generously, which made for a comfortable meal.
Self-bar and aprons

The self-bar has lettuce, onion, salt, ssamjang, and cheongyang chili peppers ready to go! And for anyone ordering naengmyeon, mustard and vinegar to mix in are also at the self-bar haha.

Aprons hang on the wall. Anyone who needs one can just grab it freely!
The menu

The menu has Ihwajeong's seasoned pork grill, seasoned pork galbi, and beef galbisal, plus mul-naengmyeon, bibim-naengmyeon, doenjang jjigae, and seasoned crab as an add-on!
What we ordered 🔥
- Ihwajeong seasoned pork grill
- Seasoned pork galbi
- Beef galbisal
- Mul-naengmyeon
Basic table setting and banchan
The basic table setting starts with the same ssam greens and onion we saw at the self-bar haha.

Then a variety of banchan came out! Salad, japchae, seasoned crab, and radish salad — the crab was so good in particular! The other side dishes are refillable, but they said crab has to be ordered as an extra.
Ihwajeong's seasoned pork grill & seasoned pork galbi

Ooh, the charcoal is blazing away 🔥 For pork galbi, charcoal-grilled really is the best haha!

The seasoned pork grill and seasoned pork galbi came out together. The seasoned pork grill is 100% thick, tender pork neck, and the seasoned pork galbi comes with both neck meat and rib meat, they said.

Watching it turn golden-brown made it look more and more delicious. The charcoal aroma was drifting up too, so I couldn't wait to take a bite 🤤

They cut it into bite-sized pieces and grilled it once more over the strong charcoal fire haha.
The very first bite was a proper ssam wrap! Both the seasoned pork grill and the seasoned pork galbi had such delicious sauce!
The sweet-savory sauce soaked into the meat perfectly, and it was thick yet tender and juicy. With that subtle charcoal aroma on top, charcoal-grilled pork galbi really is the best!

I always love eating seasoned pork galbi with plain white rice, and honestly that's the ultimate combo haha. The sweet-savory sauce on the meat and the nutty, plain taste of the rice went so well together!
White rice really is the best match for seasoned pork galbi. They gave us a lot of rice too. The portion was bigger than I expected (I was actually surprised haha), and of course don't forget to pick every last bit of meat off the bones — it'd be a shame not to!
Finishing with beef galbisal

After enjoying the pork to our hearts' content, we finished with beef galbisal too haha. After eating so much pork galbi, I was curious about the beef galbisal too, so we tried it, and it was the perfect way to wrap up the meal!

We grilled the beef galbisal with care too. Grill it too long and it gets tough!

Tirang grilled it perfectly 💛 The beef galbisal was just as good as the pork galbi! It had a tender yet chewy texture that was delicious. It had a completely different charm from the pork galbi haha.
Finishing with naengmyeon and pear dessert

We were so full, but the mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) was a must >,< 🍜

The pear dessert you have to try before leaving Ihwajeong Charcoal-Grilled Pork Galbi 🍐 This is genuinely so good haha. It's sweet and cool, so after all that meat it tastes even better 💛
144-hour cross-aged seasoned galbi, final thoughts
They said Ihwajeong Charcoal-Grilled Pork Galbi brings out the best flavor in its pork galbi through two rounds of cross-aging over 144 hours! The galbi was thick and juicy, and the sauce had a naturally sweet flavor from pear, making the meat tender — I really enjoyed the meal.
If you're ever craving charcoal-grilled pork galbi, I recommend Ihwajeong Charcoal-Grilled Pork Galbi! It's a must-visit pork galbi spot in Pyeongtaek >,< 👍🏻
