It had been a while since my last nail set, my nails had grown out a lot, and the cuticles definitely needed tidying up. With the weather turning cooler, I felt that autumn mood coming on and wanted to switch things up with the season — so this time I visited a shop in Hongdae~

Where is Byuazeu in Hongdae, and how do you get there from Hongik University Station?

Byuazeu is a 5-minute walk from Hongik University Station Exit 9. It's just a little ways into an alley, so it's not hard to find. It's on the 1st floor, but it feels like it's set up half a level higher, so you head up the marked staircase.

Once you step inside Byuazeu, it turns out to run as a total beauty shop where you can get lashes and skincare done along with gel nails. The space is decorated cleanly in a white tone, with 2 nail tables and 2 pedicure tables set up.

Byuazeu's monthly art comes in several price ranges starting from the ₩40,000s, which felt like great value~ Personally, rather than deciding on a design perfectly before going to the shop, I tend to pick from whatever designs and samples are available that day, and since Byuazeu had a wide variety of monthly art ready, I found myself deliberating over which design to choose while getting my care done.

Thin nails: how was the gel removal and shape cleanup?

Once the actual care and design process began, they used a drill to remove the old gel, then shaped and adjusted the length of my nails. My nails tend to be on the thin side, so I'm always careful when getting gel done repeatedly — this time too, after removing the old gel, they evened out the overall nail length and shaped them just the way I wanted.

The finished design matters, but personally I think gel removal, cuticle care, and shaping are even more important — and I was able to get all of that done without any discomfort!

What I chose at Byuazeu was a clean design with an autumn-toned magnetic gel point. As the color filled in nail by nail, the whole mood clearly shifted from before. They layered on the art needed for the design step by step, then checked the overall balance at the end to finish up.

It's such a satisfying combination for autumn weather. I actually flew to Shanghai the very next day, and every time I looked at my nails while taking photos on the trip, they matched the mood perfectly~ It's such a good way to refresh your mood before an important trip.
