Gongdeok Station bake shop after work, 6pm sellouts: Fluffy Bake Shop

In short

Fluffy Bake Shop is a bake shop near Gongdeok Station in Mapo, Seoul that focuses only on baked pastries. Arriving after work around 6pm, the plain madeleines, financiers and the gamtae (seaweed) financier were already sold out, but Fluffy Bake Shop still had Dubai egg tarts at 7,500 won each, carrot, hallabong and matcha madeleines at 3,600 won, a Nunettine financier at 3,800 won and a chocolate canelé, all packed into a 6-piece box. The Dubai egg tart's rich whole-ingredient flavour was the top pick, though arriving earlier than 6pm gives a much wider choice.

I love pastries, and while searching around I found what looked like a genuinely serious pastry spot — Fluffy Bake Shop!! I really loved that they focus only on baked pastries instead of carrying every kind of bread. I visited after work (around 6pm) and a lot of menu items were sold out, but there was still plenty I wanted to try, so I was satisfied! My sister tried it and got hooked too, so here's my review of Fluffy Bake Shop from a while back!

Fluffy Bake Shop is easy to get to from Gongdeok Station. Come out of Exit 2 and after about a 2-minute walk you'll spot a madeleine-shaped sign, haha.

The exterior has such a cute little bake shop feel! Even from outside you can see cute details like figurines and the shop name cutely carved into the doormat.

Seating area inside the shop

Can you sit and eat inside Fluffy Bake Shop?

Fluffy Bake Shop isn't big, but there are seats where you can sit and eat. They've thoughtfully included drink options too, so sitting here with a drink and dessert sounds great, haha.

How to choose the pastries, and gift box prices

Next to a cute Jjanggu figurine there's a tray and tongs for picking out your pastries. The counter has the gift box options listed, with prices as below. The green background with the cloud-shaped lettering that's part of Fluffy's identity is just too cute and eye-catching... it seems really nice as a gift.

There were also posters and illustrated calendars that seemed to reflect the owner's taste, which was fun to look at too!

What is still left at Fluffy Bake Shop at 6pm?

Prices at Fluffy Bake Shop are mostly around ₩2,800 to ₩3,600, and apparently the gamtae (seaweed) financier appeared on Saturday but was sold out too, being so popular... Number one on my list to try next time!! And I'm curious about the apple churros too.

Matcha and carrot madeleines on display

The hallabong (Jeju citrus) madeleine even recreates the little stem of a hallabong — so cute I really wanted to eat it, haha. There were a lot of financier flavors that looked delicious too, but almost none left... If you have time, I'd recommend visiting earlier than 6pm!!

Dubai egg tart!! This was a menu item I really wanted to try, and luckily it was still there. There was also a small amount left of the pretty matcha-coated matcha madeleine and the cute carrot madeleine.

Surprisingly, there wasn't a single basic madeleine or financier left... I guess that's proof of how solid their basics are, since they sell so well ..! Guess I'll have to catch them next time, haha.

The drink menu is quite varied too...! The owner must be super busy...

Dubai egg tart ₩7,500×2 / carrot madeleine ₩3,600 / hallabong madeleine ₩3,600 / matcha madeleine ₩3,600 / Nunettine financier ₩3,800 / chocolate canelé ₩3,600

Several pastries picked out on a tray

I really bought way too much haha. Honestly it came out to more than a decent meal at a restaurant. That's how hard it was to give up on any single dessert... There was no other customer around either, so I agonized for a while and ended up grabbing everything I'd been debating over... Especially the Dubai egg tart... it's as pricey as it is delicious, so I kept going back and forth on whether to buy it.

6-piece box packing and how to store the pastries

I went with the 6-piece box option, and they packed it into a shopping bag like this!!

Ta-da. Wouldn't you be thrilled if someone gave you a gift packaged like this???

Storage instructions printed on the box

They even wrote out storage instructions like this!! Definitely take care with storage for anything coated in chocolate or containing cream cheese that needs refrigeration.

They packed everything so appetizingly like this. You can really feel the owner's care put into each individual dessert! Having such a variety made it look even more delicious once I brought it home.

Top pick: the Dubai egg tart

No matter what, my top pick at Fluffy Bake Shop was the Dubai egg tart, haha. The real-ingredient flavor came through strong and the texture was just right — it was a shame watching it disappear so fast..ㅠㅠ

Cross-section of the Dubai egg tart cut in half

I wondered if it would even pair well with egg tart, but it turned out to go really well with the moderately sweet, soft texture too — very satisfying!! My sister tried this Dubai egg tart and fell so hard for it that she said she'd go buy some herself, haha.

Desserts made with so much care that they're a joy for both the eyes and the mouth!! A place I'd love to visit again next time I need to grab desserts to take out.
