Hanam Misa Chinese restaurant for a mother-daughter lunch: O Hyeongje
In short
O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is a nurungjitang (crispy rice soup) specialty Chinese restaurant on Misadae-ro in Hanam, Gyeonggi. On a weekday lunch visit with her mother, the writer ordered the seafood abalone rice-crust soup, 18,000 won, and the tenderloin sticky rice tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), 26,000 won, both served in a bubbling earthenware pot that stayed hot through a long, chatty meal. Mild rather than heavy, O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang is an easy choice for eating out with parents.

Where is O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch?
O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa branch is a rice-crust soup (nurungjitang) specialty Chinese restaurant at 616-1 Misadae-ro, 1st floor, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It's open from 11:00 to 21:20, and there's a wide parking lot.

I had errands in the Hanam Misa area and ended up going for lunch with my mom that day :) When I eat with my mom, we usually prefer warm soup dishes or things we can share rather than anything too heavy or spicy. This time I wanted something a bit different in Chinese food, so we visited O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa branch. Hope this review helps ✨

We arrived at a restaurant with a wide parking lot — even the name gives off that rice-crust soup specialty vibe haha. What I really wanted to try that day was the seafood rice-crust soup! And to make it good for sharing between the two of us, we also ordered the tenderloin sticky rice tangsuyuk. Bottom line up front: the soup comes bubbling in a hot stone pot, which made it a good place to eat slowly with my mom.

What we ordered for two, and what it cost
We ordered the seafood abalone rice-crust soup for ₩18,000 and the tenderloin sticky rice tangsuyuk for ₩26,000. Since it was just my mom and me, we went with one main plus one side dish. Rather than ordering a lot of little things, having the rice-crust soup as the main with tangsuyuk on the side gave us a pretty solid amount of food.

Seafood abalone rice-crust soup in an earthenware pot
The first dish we ordered was the seafood abalone rice-crust soup, ₩20,000. Honestly, this was the dish I was most looking forward to that day. When it arrived, it came piping hot in a stone pot. Rice-crust soup is best enjoyed warm anyway, and having it in a stone pot meant it kept bubbling even after being set down on the table — just looking at it made me feel warmer haha. And the fact that it didn't cool down easily even as we ate slowly was great. Sometimes when you're chatting with your mom over a meal, the food cools off fast, but with a stone pot dish like this, that worry was much less.

How does the crispy rice texture change as you eat?
The hot broth is full of seafood, so the soup itself has that distinct savory seafood depth, and the rice crust underneath gradually softens as it soaks up the broth. At first the rice crust still has some crispness left, but as time passes and it absorbs more broth, it turns moist and soft — that transformation is part of the charm. So rather than eating it all at once, it's nice to eat slowly and notice the texture change.

Since it's not just rice crust but has seafood mixed in too, there was real fun in scooping up a spoonful each time. A spoon of broth, a bit of rice crust, and a piece of seafood together made for a surprisingly filling bite. Compared to a heavier, spicier Chinese dish, having warm broth with rice-crust that eats almost like rice felt gentler for a meal with parents! So for anyone looking for a Hanam restaurant with rice-crust soup to visit with parents or family, this place seems like a great fit.

Tenderloin sticky rice tangsuyuk, 26,000 won
Eating just the rice-crust soup felt a bit lacking, so we ordered another dish alongside it — the tenderloin sticky rice tangsuyuk! Priced at ₩26,000. Since the rice-crust soup was already a soupy meal dish, I thought ordering one tangsuyuk to share would be just right. Looking up the menu description, it uses fresh pork tenderloin, known for its tender texture.

True to its name as sticky rice tangsuyuk, the batter had a chewy quality that gave it a different feel from the usual crispy tangsuyuk. Crispy on the outside, but with the sticky rice's signature chewiness when you bite in, and the meat inside — using fresh tenderloin — was tender rather than dry.

Why O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang suits a meal with parents, plus the self-serve bar
I visited with my mom this time, and personally, I thought this could be a solid option for anyone looking for a place to eat with their parents. When you think of Chinese food, dishes like jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, or tangsuyuk usually come to mind first, but here the signature dish is rice-crust soup, which made for a slightly different kind of meal. And the self-serve bar was well stocked, so it was easy to help yourself without hesitation!! Even dessert — yum yum~~

Which nurungjitang to try on the next visit
There are several types of rice-crust soup — seafood abalone, mung bean abalone, and maesaengi (green laver) abalone rice-crust soup among them — so you can pick according to your taste, which is a nice plus. We had the basic seafood rice-crust soup this time, but next visit I'd like to try one of the abalone versions too.
Above all, what I loved most was the seafood rice-crust soup arriving piping hot in a stone pot. It came out bubbling, so we could eat it warm from start to finish, and with the seafood and rich broth mingling with the rice crust, it felt like a satisfying, filling meal. It was also nice for eating slowly while chatting with my mom about this and that :) If you're looking for a Hanam restaurant with rice-crust soup to visit with parents, or want something a bit more special than the usual jjajangmyeon or jjamppong, this place is worth a visit.
