Seongsu hand-drip café that brings coffee to your table: T Coffee

In short

T Coffee is a quiet basement hand-drip café on Achasan-ro near Seongsu Station in Seongdong, Seoul. After a meal and some shopping in Seongsu, the writer ordered a mint latte and a hand-drip coffee at T Coffee, and the hand-drip was brewed to order and carried to the table. The mint latte carries only a soft mint aroma with no coloring, and the hand-drip has a pleasant acidity, making T Coffee a calm choice for work, reading, or a meeting.

Looking for a quiet café in Seongsu? T Coffee, one floor down

T Coffee is a quiet café near Seongsu Station, located in the basement at 159 Achasan-ro, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. After eating and shopping in Seongsu, I wanted to relax with a quiet coffee. Cafés in Seongsu are always crowded and buzzing, so I went looking for a quiet one and found T Coffee!!!

I thought Seongsu only had bustling cafés, but I had no idea there was a space like this where you could sip coffee and just unwind haha. If you want to enjoy coffee quietly in Seongsu, or you're looking for a café good for working, reading, or meetings, this is the place!

Inside T Coffee: a basement that still feels bright and open

Even though T Coffee is in the basement, it never felt dark or cramped — the space felt open. I expected it to feel dim since it's underground, but instead it barely felt like a basement at all. Plus sunlight poured in, making the interior really bright. Sitting inside, I almost forgot I was underground.

And I really loved the interior. From the tables to every single chair, you could feel the owner's personal taste in the design. There are several tables in the middle, and long benches run along the wall so you can sit side by side. Sitting across a table is nice, but sitting side by side on the long bench and chatting over tea was also really lovely.

What's on the T Coffee menu, from coffee to desserts

Besides what's on the menu board, they also have hand-drip coffee and desserts!

Real dessert samples displayed one by one

They had one of each dessert displayed so you could see the real thing. They were so cute that I kept glancing over. Everything looked delicious, but I was already too full from lunch, so I decided to save dessert for next time... It's so sad not being a big eater at times like this ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

Order — mint latte, hand-drip coffee

Bar area where hand-drip coffee is brewed

After ordering, one side was brewing coffee with a machine while the other side hand-dripped it directly. And once I sat down, they brought the coffee right to my table.

How the mint latte at T Coffee tastes

T Coffee's mint latte had no artificial coloring, just a subtle mint aroma coming through. The mint latte arrived first. Since hand-drip coffee takes time to brew, I think that's why the latte came out first. Mint latte isn't something you usually find at cafés, so I couldn't resist ordering it. Plus I love mint~ At first, since it wasn't mint-colored, I wondered if this was really a mint latte, but once I tasted it, the mint flavor came through. I actually loved that it didn't look artificially colored.

Mint latte with separated coffee and milk layers

The coffee and milk layers were separated, so I stirred it well. As I stirred, the coffee aroma rose up and got me even more excited about the taste.

Mint latte well stirred and smooth

Once everything was mixed, it turned into a smooth, beautiful-looking latte. The mint latte was exactly what it sounds like — a latte with mint added. When I go to cafés, I usually just order americano or tea because I like clean flavors. This mint latte had no heaviness at all and tasted really clean. The sweetness wasn't too strong either, which was perfect. It's the kind of drink that makes you feel good after sipping it. The balance of mint, milk, and coffee was just right.

Hand-drip coffee brewed to order and brought to the table

T Coffee's hand-drip coffee had a flavor with neither the acidity nor the body overdone — the kind that pleases just about anyone. They brewed it by hand and filled the cup generously. The acidity wasn't too sharp, and the body wasn't too heavy either. If the body's too heavy, you get a burnt taste, which I don't like. But I'm also not a fan of coffee with too much acidity... I usually prefer a more nutty, mellow flavor, and this one had a bit more acidity than what I usually go for. But that acidity wasn't unpleasant — it actually felt refreshing.

I'd recommend this to anyone in Seongsu looking to relax quietly over coffee, or looking for a space to get some work done.
