Songnim Bok Jangeo Freshwater Eel Unlimited Refill, Sadong Branch is an all-you-can-eat freshwater eel restaurant in Sadong, Sangnok-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi, about a 10-minute walk from Sari Station on the Suin-Bundang Line. Eel, pork belly and chicken neck meat are all unlimited, along with bean sprout soup and rice, and every table gets a complimentary bottle of bokbunja (Korean black raspberry) wine. Songnim Bok Jangeo is a good place to eat your fill of restorative food when your energy is low.

Booked through Naver Reservation for the Saturday 2pm show, the writer took her 33-month-old and her older child and sat front-row center for 50 minutes of participatory magic plus a closing hand shadow show. Both children were called onstage and came home with a magic book, making Magic & Joy Gwanggyo an easy recommendation for a day out in Suwon with kids.

Osan Chinese restaurant to share beef brisket jjamppong: Dami Sik

Dami Sik is a Chinese restaurant on Sumogwon-ro 49beon-gil in Osan, Gyeonggi, where the signature dish is stone jjajang (black bean noodles) served sizzling on a hot stone plate. On this visit Dami Sik's stone jjajang, woo-samgyeop jjamppong (spicy noodle soup with beef brisket) and yuringi (crispy fried chicken with sweet-sour sauce) were ordered to share: the yuringi was crisp and tangy, the jjamppong broth deep and heavy, and the jjajang sauce thick. Dami Sik suits a group ordering several dishes to share rather than one bowl each.

Goyang Korean BBQ: ogyeopsal lunch at Auseong Gaeseong Sonmandu

Auseong Gaeseong Sonmandu is a 24-hour Korean restaurant on Jeongbalsan-ro near Jeongbalsan Station in Goyang, Gyeonggi, best known for mandu jeongol (dumpling hot pot) and hand-cut noodles. On this visit the writer came with her dad around 1pm and ordered two servings of ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly), grilling it at the table with lettuce, pickled onion, seasoned bean sprouts, seasoned scallions, doenjang and seaweed salad on the side. The thick-cut ogyeopsal and kimchi grilled on the pan were good enough that they agreed to come back for the mandu jeongol next time.

The weight zone is separated from the cardio and stretching zone, and workout clothes and towels are provided, so coming empty-handed after work is no problem.

Goyang soy crab restaurant with a 24,900 won refill set: Deodeo

Deodeo Ganjanggejang Muhalliripil is an all-you-can-eat soy crab restaurant in Wondang-dong, Deogyang-gu, Goyang. Two of us ordered the 24,900 won per person set — soy sauce crab, spicy marinated crab, blue crab stew and steamed egg — refilled the crab four times while sticking to one bowl of rice each, and dropped the free ramen noodles into the crab stew. The crab at Deodeo Ganjanggejang was packed with meat and the seasoning was mild rather than harsh, so we told the owner on the way out that we would be back often.

Easy parking kalguksu near Korean Folk Village: Yubok Kalguksu

Yubok Kalguksu Yongin Korean Folk Village Branch is a pufferfish-broth seafood kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant right beside the Korean Folk Village in Yongin, Gyeonggi. The writer drove over, parked in the spaces around the restaurant, and ordered the pufferfish seafood kalguksu set together with the baby octopus and chive seafood pancake. Between the house-made noodles, the clean pufferfish broth and a chive pancake packed with seafood, Yubok Kalguksu is an easy recommendation for the last meal of a Folk Village day out.

Italian pasta restaurant at Gapyeong Market with jambon salad: Pinoli

Pinoli is an Italian home-style pasta restaurant on the first floor of Startup Economy Town inside Gapyeong Market in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi. Visiting for a late brunch with a friend, we ordered the Pinoli salad with jambon ham, the signature Pinoli pasta, and the homemade meatball garlic fried rice, and the homemade yeolmu (young summer radish) pickles and truffle butter were just as memorable. If you want something other than dakgalbi in Gapyeong, Pinoli is a great choice.
