The Pizzeria Market Hanam Misa is a natural sourdough wood-fired pizza restaurant on Misagangbyeon-buk-ro 30beon-gil in Hanam, Gyeonggi. Visiting with her husband and baby, the writer ordered the ricotta honey pepperoni wood-fired pizza, hot-honey buffalo wings and a salad, and found the tables spaced far enough apart to park a stroller beside them. The Pizzeria Market Hanam Misa went straight onto her saved list as the atmospheric Hanam spot for a get-together with the moms from her postpartum care center.

Hanam steak restaurant with Han River views: Bokkeriu course for two

Bokkeriu is a Western-style steak restaurant with floor-to-ceiling Han River views in Misa-dong, Hanam, Gyeonggi. A weekend drive date at Bokkeriu meant the steak set for two: sweet corn soup, kelp butter sourdough, shrimp bisque pasta, a 200g Korean beef striploin steak cooked medium-rare, and cheesecake, followed by a walk at Misa Gyeongjeong Park. Bokkeriu is worth recommending as a date course just outside Seoul.

Yukhoe Dokjon Suwon Station Branch is a chilled hanwoo beef tartare restaurant-bar on the 1st floor of Dream Plaza on Hyanggyo-ro, near Suwon Station in Gyeonggi. Two diners ordered the live octopus hanwoo yukhoe (raw beef tartare) and the hanwoo yukhoe bibimbap, then added seaweed sheets and wrapped the beef and live octopus in them with a spoonful of chojang chili sauce. Between the black sesame sauce and the dashi broth served over a solid-fuel burner, the verdict at Yukhoe Dokjon is simple: ordering the extra seaweed is essential.

Hwial Ajou University Branch is a Korean-style bar and restaurant on Aju-ro near Ajou University in Suwon, Gyeonggi. On a Sunday night we took the sofa seats and toasted with a non-alcoholic bokbunja (Korean raspberry) highball and the alcoholic bokbunja highball, then made dinner out of discounted aged salmon sashimi and chadol doenjang sul-bap (beef brisket soybean paste rice). With two non-alcoholic highballs on the menu, Hwial works as a date spot even if one of you doesn't drink.

Charcoal-grilled tteokgalbi restaurant in Pocheon: Myeongimong

Myeongimong is a Korean restaurant in Sinbuk-myeon, Pocheon, Gyeonggi, serving handmade tteokgalbi (grilled minced-meat patties) made with domestic Korean pork alongside makguksu (chilled buckwheat noodles). Ordering the charcoal-grilled Korean pork tteokgalbi, the cheese tteokgalbi and the cold water makguksu together showed how the smoky char, melted cheese and icy broth play off each other, and wrapping each bite in pickled wild garlic leaves kept the meal from feeling heavy to the last piece. With baby chairs, baby dishware and partitioned seating, Jugeokjip made a family dinner out easy.
