Yangju galbi restaurant lunch before a Dongducheon trip: Manpo Galbi

Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch is a handmade pork galbi (Korean BBQ ribs) restaurant on Songnang-ro in Yangju, Gyeonggi. Before a day out in Dongducheon, the writer grilled seasoned handmade pork galbi here for lunch with the kids, along with the complimentary yukhoe (beef tartare) and yukjeon (beef pancake), a self-serve banchan bar, a free Hamhung naengmyeon per person, and bbeong-seukeurim (puffed rice cracker with soft-serve) for dessert. With a large free parking lot and private rooms, Manpo Galbi is worth remembering for a family meal out with children.

Pyeongtaek pork galbi with ssamjang lettuce wraps: Ihwajeong

Ihwajeong Charcoal-Grilled Pork Galbi is a second-floor charcoal-grilled marinated pork galbi restaurant on Manse-ro in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi. Visiting with a child, the writer grilled three servings of Ihwajeong pork galbi over charcoal, ate it in lettuce wraps with the restaurant's special ssamjang, and finished with bibim naengmyeon and two self-serve cups of pear slush. Both the marinade and the ssamjang were so good that even the child cleaned the plate, making Ihwajeong an easy family dinner out.

Pound Coffee Unjeong Main Branch is a forest-view café facing a park in central Unjeong, Paju, Gyeonggi. Between the texture of the aged flounder sushi and that care for children, Hwangje Sushi was a no-fail pick for a family meal in Ilsan.
