Suwon Hommaesil kid-friendly lunch: mixed pork hot pot at Ok Doenjang

Ok Doenjang Suwon Hommaesil Branch is a hot pot-focused Korean restaurant on Geumgok-ro in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi. On a visit with a child, the mixed boiled pork hot pot (medium) cost 38,000 won, and while the peppery broth was too strong for the kid, the boiled pork, ribs, gim (dried seaweed) and kimchi-jjim side dishes still made a filling meal. With baby chairs and underground parking, Ok Doenjang works well for a family lunch in Hommaesil.

Strong value, unlimited makgeolli and a big parking lot make this Sinbong-dong kalguksu spot worth the trip.

The dark beer served in a glass rimmed with plenty of cinnamon powder goes well with the hoddeok, and Homaek is an easy bar to visit with children.

Dongtan flower shop, purple bouquet for Mom: Jeongjik Farm Flower

Bucheon octopus restaurant, bossam and steamed egg sides: Yajju Yajju

Yajju Yajju Maekom Jjukkumi Main Branch is a jjukkumi (spicy stir-fried webfoot octopus) restaurant in an alley near Exit 6 of Chunui Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. The order was jjuksam (octopus with pork belly) for two at 30,000 won on spice level 1, plus hanbang bossam (herbal boiled pork) at 9,000 won, Yajju steamed egg at 3,000 won and flying fish roe fried rice at 4,000 won to finish. The sweet-spicy octopus with pork belly and bossam worked so well that Yajju Yajju is now the set choice for jjukkumi.
