Kiosk-added ribs, doenjang rice pot & bibim noodles: Dongbaek
In short
Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant is a hanok-style Korean BBQ butcher shop in Giheung, Yongin, right across from Eojeong Station. The writer hand-picked hanwoo (Korean beef) flower sirloin and 1++9 short rib meat at the butcher counter, then topped up with kiosk-ordered seasoned beef short rib meat for two and 550g of pork ribs, finishing with doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice pot) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles). With both a butcher counter and kiosk ordering plus free iced coffee after the meal, it was an easy pick for a family dinner or group outing.

Hanok exterior, spacious dining room, and parking
Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant lived up to its name, with an impressive hanok (traditional Korean house) style exterior surrounded by trees and a garden. There's a spacious dedicated parking lot near the back entrance, so it was convenient to drive there too.
Once inside, the dining room was much bigger than I expected. There was plenty of space between tables, and the chairs had backrests, so I could eat comfortably. With so many seats, it looked like a great spot for family meals as well as bigger gatherings or company dinners.
Two ways to order — the butcher counter or the kiosk
There were two ways to order meat here. First, you could pick directly from the cuts displayed at the butcher counter, checking the weight and price yourself. Once you've chosen your meat, you bring it to the counter staff, who scan the barcode, and then take it to your table to grill over charcoal.

Besides the meats you pick yourself at the butcher counter, there were also separate menu items you could order through the kiosk installed at each table. The kiosk had options like seasoned pork BBQ, a mixed platter of raw beef short ribs, and seasoned beef BBQ, so you could order easily from your seat without walking over to the counter.

In particular, the seasoned pork BBQ comes as a standalone 550g menu item, so if you like tender seasoned meat, it might be worth visiting as a pork rib spot too. If you want to compare the meat's condition and price yourself, go with the butcher counter; if you'd rather order comfortably from your seat, use the kiosk menu.
Grilling hanwoo flower sirloin and 1++9 short rib meat over charcoal
We picked hanwoo flower sirloin and 1++9 hanwoo short rib meat at the butcher counter.
Besides the basic side dishes, you could freely grab extra ones from the self-serve bar set up on one side of the restaurant.
As soon as the charcoal was ready, we started grilling small portions of meat🔥
The hanwoo flower sirloin was tender with a rich, savory flavor that filled the mouth. The short rib meat had a bit more chew than the sirloin, so each cut had its own charm. Dipping the well-grilled hanwoo lightly in salt really brought out the meat's natural flavor.
It also went well with garlic or pickled onions, and in between we grilled some kkwarigochu (shishito-style peppers) and garlic on the charcoal too. The faint charcoal aroma made them great to pair with each bite of meat.

Adding seasoned beef short rib meat and pork ribs via kiosk
We felt the amount of meat wasn't quite enough, so we added seasoned beef short rib meat for two and 550g of pork ribs through the kiosk!

The rice course — doenjang sulbap and bibim naengmyeon
After all that meat, we were missing carbs, of course^^ So we added doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice pot) for the meal. Inside the bubbling stone pot were rice, enoki mushrooms, zucchini, tofu and other ingredients packed generously. The broth was thicker than a regular doenjang stew, and the finely sliced chili added a spicy kick. Scooping up rice, ingredients and chili together gave a savory yet spicy flavor that worked really well together.

The bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) we ordered alongside the rice pot arrived too!🍜 The bowl was piled generously with noodles, sauce, cucumber, radish and egg strips, and it looked delicious just to look at. The sauce was sweet and tangy with a slight kick, and once mixed evenly through the noodles, I kept reaching for more. It was great on its own, but paired with the savory flavor of the meat, the tangy-spicy sauce made it hard to put down my chopsticks even when I was full haha. The rice dishes were really good.

Free iced coffee and lollipops after the meal
Once we finished eating, there was free coffee to enjoy for dessert☕️ Next to the coffee machine, there's a separate freezer with pre-filled ice cups. Finishing off the meat with a cold coffee made everything feel clean and refreshing. There were also lollipops set out for kids, nice to grab one after the meal.

In summary
At Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant, you can pick your own hanwoo at the butcher counter, and also easily order seasoned pork or beef BBQ through the kiosk. With a spacious parking lot and a self-serve side dish bar, it was a comfortable place to eat, and finishing with iced coffee from the ice cup freezer was a nice touch.
