Same-day silver ring making with a Japanese friend: Robenta Seongsu

Fall has arrived but it's still a bit warm, so I was looking for something to do indoors and thought, I should go to a workshop good for making memories! After searching around, I went to Robenta Seongsu, a ring workshop in Seongsu with same-day pickup!

Robenta Seongsu location and hours

Robenta Seongsu is about a 3-minute walk from Seongsu Station Exit 3. It's right where you turn from the main road into the alley, so it was easy to find. The sign is big enough that even directionally-challenged people should spot it easily.

Go in the morning if you want it quiet

Walking in, the white and wood interior is so pretty — exactly the workshop vibe I'd imagined. I went early so there was no one else there, but when I came back in the afternoon to pick up my ring, there were a lot of people doing the experience! If you want it a bit quieter, I'd recommend going in the morning.

Choosing a ring design and extra charges

I sat down and started picking a ring — there were so many designs. The prices varied too, so I could choose within my budget. For rings with cubic zirconia already set in, the price already includes the stone, which was nice since I didn't have to calculate extra costs myself. Engraving, plating, and sizes 20 and above can incur extra charges.

I'm bad at making decisions so it took a while, and I'm grateful they didn't rush me, haha. What I picked was FLOW! I liked the simple design you could wear in everyday life. After finishing the design choice, they measure your size. I was really curious about my finger size, and they measured carefully so I could find out! Rings can be sized up but not down, so I went with a snug fit (I'm going to lose weight anyway...).

We moved to another spot and started making the ring ourselves. There was a tripod on the table you could use to film a timelapse!! You know watching that back later is a memory in itself. After putting on an apron and gloves, the real experience began!

Is it okay to go with a foreign friend? Japanese guide provided

If any of you are thinking of going with a foreign friend, I really recommend Robenta! I went with a Japanese friend who doesn't know Korean, and I was planning to listen to the instructions and translate for her, but they brought out a Japanese-language guide for us!! It was a great ring workshop to visit with a foreign friend.

The ring-making process

First, I started filing the sides of the ring. They showed me the instructions in person, so I just had to follow along, and since they weren't hovering during the actual work, it felt more relaxed.

Next, filing the front and back with a hand file! They came by to check at each step so there was no chance of messing it up badly! I ended up redoing 2 out of 4 steps, haha.

How long same-day pickup took

Once the front, back, and sides were smoothed with a machine, and the tip was swapped on the same machine for polishing, a pretty ring was finished. It took me about 1 hour total. Rings are available for same-day pickup, but finishing takes about 1-1.5 hours, so I went off to explore Seongsu while I waited! Since you're not making everything from scratch — the design is already mostly set and the ring won't fall apart — it felt low-pressure and still fun.

The finished ring! I love it so much, it's so pretty. They stayed kind and gave clear explanations all the way to the end, which made this Seongsu ring workshop even more memorable. If you ever need a ring workshop in Seoul to visit with a foreign friend, I'd definitely recommend this one!!
