Seongsu sirloin shabu-shabu dinner finished with yakisoba: Shabu in
In short
Shabu in Seoul Seongsu is a shabu-shabu and sukiyaki restaurant in Seongdong, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Seongsu Station, with room seating available. Visiting with a friend on a weekday evening, the writer ordered the Prime Angus sirloin shabu set dinner (₩31,000) as sukiyaki, dipped meat in egg yolk sauce, kept adding glass noodles, rice paper, bean sprouts and tofu, and finished with yakisoba and omija tea. Recommended for anyone in Seongsu looking for a shabu-shabu spot with both great taste and great atmosphere.

A shabu-shabu spot with a great vibe, just a 5-minute walk from Seongsu Station — Shabu in Seoul Seongsu 👭 I visited with a friend on a weekday evening, and both the atmosphere and the taste were so, so good that I wanted to recommend it...🩷

Vibe fit for a wedding invitation gathering or birthday party? There's even a room
I didn't know this, but Shabu in Seoul is already a famous spot for wedding-invitation gatherings The main hall interior is this clean and has such a nice atmosphere, and there's even a room inside so you can have a completely private get-together >__< But even if you can't book the room, the hall's vibe is plenty good enough for a chatty little meetup too 👭
The finishing meal changes depending on the broth
At Shabu in Seoul Seongsu you can order by broth type and by meat type! What's especially interesting is that at most shabu-shabu places, the finishing meal usually means porridge or fried rice — but here, the finishing meal changes depending on which broth you chose. If you pick the spicy mushroom broth, you get rosé risotto, and now I'm super curious about that one . . .
They're currently running an event where you get free matcha ice cream for writing a review 💚 Write a Naver review and grab your ice cream 👩🎤
What we ordered
- Prime Angus sirloin shabu set - dinner (₩31,000)
- Glass noodle add-on (₩2,000)
- Rice paper add-on (₩2,000)
- Bean sprout add-on (₩4,000)
- Tofu add-on (₩3,000)
- Matcha ice cream (₩5,000)
I know, that's a lot of add-ons...?! Hahahaha but it's only because everything was so good in the middle of eating that we kept adding more ㅠ

Three kinds of sauce, freshly set every time
When you sit down, each seat already has chopsticks and plates set up like this 🥢
The amazing thing is there are three whole kinds of sauce laid out like this. And they set this sauce fresh every single time they reset the table... 💫 Hygiene level: amazing...
I loaded up on all the sauces and threw in chili and garlic generously too 🤩

We ordered sukiyaki, so they also gave us this egg yolk sauce for dipping the sukiyaki. There were already 3 base sauces, and now egg yolk too,,, I honestly had a hard time deciding which sauce to eat it with

It seems like only the sukiyaki gets cooked in a slightly different pan(?)
Two servings of sirloin, and the meat color
What we ordered was the sirloin with the 'best' label on it 😋 Since it was for two, the meat came stacked in two tiers, and the portion was more generous than I expected 🩷

Above all, the color of the meat..... My friend and I have tried cheap shabu, all-you-can-eat shabu, budget shabu — everything — and I could really feel that a premium shabu-shabu place like this is on a different level

As soon as the shabu-shabu broth started boiling, we dumped in a ton of vegetables 🥗 The pot is also on the shallow, wide side, so it feels like everything cooks fast!
Oh, and this side dish that comes with it? Yeolmu (young radish greens)..? was really crunchy and delicious.....😋

Extra options start with rice paper
These are the things we kept endlessly adding because they were just too, too good while eating hahahaha. In particular, rice paper only comes with 2 sheets as standard, but if you add it, you get a whopping 12 sheets for ₩2,000 — so unless you're allergic to rice paper, I'd definitely recommend adding it!!!! 🩷 I also felt the add-ons had surprisingly good value for money. When you add them, the portion you get is huge relative to the price 🫶

It's the in-between season now, so it's gotten windy and the just-plain-hot weather has passed — and eating hot shabu-shabu on a day like this felt like the perfect menu choice haha 🩷

Also, I'm not usually the type to go crazy over the shabu-shabu-plus-rice-paper combo, but why does rice paper go down so smoothly with Shabu in Seoul's shabu...🫶🫶

Taking a big bite like this is just... such a happy taste.... Is this basically top-tier among Seongsu shabu-shabu places?! A place that nails both taste and atmosphere......ㅠ//ㅠ

The sukiyaki finish: yakisoba, plus omija tea
When we were almost done eating and asked for the meal, they prepared the finishing dish along with omija (schisandra berry) tea. This omija tea was completely tangy-sweet too, not the cheap-tasting kind 😋🫶 My friend wasn't drinking hers so I ended up slurping down two glasses.... ahem.
If you chose sukiyaki, the finishing meal comes as yakisoba =^w^= They fry up fresh meat again too, and the noodles are totally yummy,,, I was so ridiculously full but still ate the noodles down to the last bite.

Cleansing the palate with matcha ice cream and that's the meal, done...🩷 In Seongsu, where it's said to be hard to find good restaurants, having such a delicious meal after a while made for a really great day.
If you're looking for a shabu-shabu spot in Seongsu that nails both taste and atmosphere, I recommend Shabu in Seoul Seongsu +_+
