Late-night dessert café in Jeonpo, Busan for carrot cream pie: Hippy

Today I'm writing about Hippy, a lovely café in Jeonpo-dong that makes all kinds of desserts fresh in-store every morning. This is actually my third visit — it's that good — and this time I had a great chance to come by myself for some solo café time 🎶

Where Hippy is in Jeonpo and its opening hours

Hippy is at 12 Dongseong-ro 25beon-gil, Busanjin-gu, Busan, 1st floor, a 4-minute walk from Jeonpo Station. It's open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, nearby paid parking is recommended, and pets are welcome too.

It's a 4-minute walk from Jeonpo Station, and if you window-shop the little stores nearby on the way, you'll get there in no time — perfect accessibility ☑️

Hippy is known for its fragrant house-roasted coffee and cream pies made fresh in-store, and since it had been a while since my last visit, I noticed lots of new menu items〰️

Is Hippy a good café for solo coffee on a weeknight?

Hippy is a great café to sit alone in on a weeknight evening. It's cozy yet warm, and even at night the atmosphere is amazing ✨ There are various tables that are similar yet different, plus a bar table, so it's fun to pick your spot.

Since it was a weeknight it was fairly quiet, but this place is hot enough to have waits on weekends, so I'd recommend a weekday if you want to enjoy a calm atmosphere 🔥

One wall is filled with cute Hippy goods and little celebration props — if you urgently need a Jeonpo-day cake, I think buying a pie + candle set would work great ‼️

If you're lucky, you might even meet an adorable dog at this pet-friendly Jeonpo café 🍀

Hippy's cream pies include Dubai chocolate at 10.0, Mont Blanc chestnut at 8.5, fig fresh cream at 9.0, and carrot cream and banana nutella both at 8.0. There are also cream puddings and baked goods.

There's a wide range of coffee and drinks too, and even though the beans are house-roasted, they're surprisingly affordable !! The coffee and ades here are really delicious 😋

Ordering the carrot cream pie, banana nutella pie and matcha latte

For this solo visit to Hippy, I ordered the carrot cream pie, banana nutella pie, and matcha latte. However you look at it, the matcha latte and two cream pies look so appetizing ᰔᩚ Each on its own different plate too — so my style, love that detail !!!

What does Hippy's carrot cream pie taste like?

Cream, spice and the crust of the carrot cream pie

Crisp pie crust, mellow cream with cinnamon powder, and an adorable carrot decoration that catches your eye 👀

Both the pie crust and cream are quite firm, so it cuts cleanly without falling apart — which made me even more excited for the cross-section shot 👅

The nutty yet clean-tasting cream, the cinnamon-heavy crumble studded with nuts and raisins, and real carrot inside — it's a moist carrot cake through and through, exactly the flavor I was hoping for 🥕

Soft cream, a variety of fillings, and crunchy, many-layered pie crust — a perfect combination and totally my favorite kind of dessert 🥺

Banana nutella pie, made fresh the same day

The always-reliable chocolate + banana combo, the banana nutella pie 🍫 Seeing the many layers of nutella stacked up, any chocolate lover would have to pick this one.

Rich, thick nutella meets sweet banana for an instant sugar rush 🐽 And the crisp, flaky pastry crust is impressive as always — since it's made fresh in-store every morning, that crispness was still there even in the evening!

Hippy keeps its quality fresh and high by making and selling everything the same day 👍🏻 It was still delicious the next day too, but cream pies with fresh fruit definitely taste best eaten the day they're made !!

Hippy's matcha latte, 5,000 won

A matcha latte topped with a thick layer of sweet, nutty cream 💚 I thought the desserts and coffee alone were already perfect, but the matcha is amazing too?!

Moderately sweet while still carrying matcha's rich, slightly bitter flavor — very satisfying. Mixing in the cream mellows the matcha flavor, but since I like sweeter drinks, it disappeared in no time 💦

Outdoor tables, the one-table annex and takeout

Besides the indoor seating, Hippy also has outdoor tables and an annex. I only expected the indoor space, but walking further in, there were outdoor tables and an annex too?! The annex has just one table, giving it a total hideout feel 🏕️ It's perfect for wedding invitation meetups or small gatherings.

The cream pies are so pretty that anyone would love them, and since they can be packed in neat boxes with ice packs, I'd strongly recommend them as a dessert gift 🎁

On top of that, the staff were incredibly kind, so this Jeonpo Station café gave me a proper after-work healing session 😇
