Jeonpo café favorite for cream pie: Hippy

It's been so hot lately that even meeting up with friends felt like too much effort, so I hadn't made any plans in a while. But now that autumn is right around the corner and it's finally cooler out, I met up with friends after a long time — meeting spot: the hip street of Jeonpo! Craving fragrant coffee and something sweet, we headed to Hippy, a Jeonpo café. The cream pies here are genuinely delicious, so this is already my n-th visit haha :)

Where is Hippy and when is it open?

Hippy is in the alley right in front of Dongseong Elementary School in Jeonpo-dong, open 11:00–22:00. Takeout, reservations, group seating, and dogs are all welcome.

If you're driving, the parking lot next to Dongseong Elementary is your closest bet :)

What does Hippy look like inside and out?

Jeonpo café Hippy has the kind of exterior that makes you pause even if you're just walking by — the green trees and the wooden entrance give off such a cozy feeling :)

But above all, Jeonpo Hippy is a sweet cream pie destination! There's no such thing as someone who's tried Hippy's cream pie once and doesn't come back — you just can't forget the taste (speaking from experience,,)

It's also a dog-friendly café in Jeonpo, so it's a great spot to enjoy fragrant coffee and sweet desserts alongside adorable pups! When I went, there was a doll-like pretty pup tucked inside a bag(?) and honestly just watching it was healing,,,hahaha

The inside is fairly spacious. There's group seating that comfortably fits five, and every single seat is so tastefully done!

Every corner is photogenic even with a random snap :) It's also a great spot for warm sunlight streaming through the windows. The overall vibe is so comfortable that you just want to keep coming back! Personally, when I lived in Jeonpo, this was one of the cafés I'd come to often for a solo coffee break.

There's also a hidden space if you go out the back door! Another customer was using it that day so I couldn't get a photo, but that space is a total hidden gem too!

Jeonpo café Hippy isn't just great for desserts — it's a roastery café that roasts its own coffee beans, so the coffee itself is seriously good! There's a wide range from coffee to non-coffee drinks, and decaf beans are available too, so there's plenty to choose from :)

Cream pie is non-negotiable whenever I come to Hippy! We got there right around 1pm after lunch, and every single pie flavor was available — nothing sold out.

A visual that makes you happy just looking at it :) The crispy pie crust piled high with cream and toppings — every single one looks delicious, making it hard to decide what to get each time I visit.

Besides cream pies and crepe rolls, there are also financiers and pound cakes for something lighter!

Next to the counter there's a Hippy MD zone. It's full of cute little items — so fun to browse :)

Tasting the banana Nutella cream pie, coffee and tea at Hippy

Today's order at Hippy was Americano ₩5,000, Marco Polo Rouge tea ₩5,000, and banana Nutella cream pie ₩8,000.

A cool Americano, a warm tea, and a sweet cream pie! Already picture-perfect before even taking a bite.

True to a Jeonpo roastery café, the coffee has a nutty flavor with a mild, unobtrusive acidity! The desserts are great here, but the coffee is genuinely top-tier too, which is exactly why I keep coming back for the n-th time. There's also a Hippy Coffee takeout-only spot in front of Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station, and it's worth visiting often too — a certified great coffee spot!

My friend who's cutting back on caffeine ordered the Marco Polo Rouge tea, and the subtle aroma was exactly my style! Tea menu items also come with one free refill.

Finally, time for the sweet banana Nutella cream pie!

Inside the crispy pie crust is a generous layer of soft custard cream, and on top there's a whole banana and Nutella chocolate cream!

Finished off with a banana brûlée on top of the rich chocolate cream, giving it a distinct crackly sweetness at the end! You can tell each menu item was carefully thought through with the level of detail here — with so many cream pie and crepe roll flavors, it feels like a mission to try one at a time on each visit :)

With such good dessert, the coffee just kept going down easily too. Between the chatting with friends and the extra scoop of sweetness, it was such a happy, healing afternoon :)
