It was a rainy weekend afternoon and I was wondering what to have for lunch, so I decided to try brunch at a café for a change. I usually like Hands Coffee's waffles and drop by now and then, but the Dongchon Resort branch turned out to have a pretty varied brunch menu too. This time, instead of coffee and dessert, I decided to go for a proper brunch.

Since I'm often out and about with my baby, I prefer places with easy parking and plenty of space, and this place worked well on both counts, so let me introduce it.

Where is Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch, and what about parking and hours?

There's a parking lot in the building, so it was convenient to visit by car, and the café uses three whole floors from 2nd to 4th, so the space is quite large.

The counter is on the 2nd floor, and there's an elevator too, so moving around was easy for me visiting with a baby and stroller.

Each floor has big windows, so no matter where you sit you get a view of the lush green scenery outside, which I really liked.

How do the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors differ?

Each floor at Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch has a slightly different vibe, and the 4th floor has both outdoor tables and floor seating. The 2nd floor is where the counter is.

The 4th floor in particular has outdoor tables and floor seating. The floor seating area is the kind where you take your shoes off before sitting, and it looked like a lot of guests with babies were using it. If you're visiting a café with a baby like us, the 4th floor is worth checking out.

The mood was a little different on each floor, but thanks to the big windows and green scenery, no floor ever felt cramped — you could relax anywhere.

Hands Coffee brunch menu and what comes in Set A

The brunch menu was more varied than I expected. Alongside the Hands House Brunch, there were pastas, salads, a jambon-beurre sandwich (ham and butter sandwich) and more, and we chose the Double Tray Hands Brunch Set A.

Description of the Double Tray Hands Brunch Set

Set A comes with ✔ a choice of creamy mushroom pasta or paccheri cream pasta, plus ✔ chicken granola salad, with drinks ordered separately. We went with the paccheri cream pasta, chicken granola salad and an iced long black.

What we ordered and how long the brunch took

We ordered the Double Tray Hands Brunch Set A (paccheri cream pasta + chicken granola salad) and an iced long black. We were told brunch dishes take about 15 minutes after ordering.

It was a rainy weekend and the café was pretty busy, but the staff were friendly, so I didn't feel uncomfortable while waiting.

Brunch Set A served on a double tray

When the brunch finally arrived, it was plated more nicely than I expected, so of course I took photos first. Since the menu comes on a double tray like an afternoon tea set, it felt a bit more special than a typical brunch. It looked great on the table and made for good photos.

And the portions were more generous than they looked! At first I thought pasta and salad might not be quite enough for two, but once we started eating, it filled us up more than expected.

How the paccheri cream pasta tasted

A plate of paccheri cream pasta

The paccheri cream pasta is made with durum wheat linguine noodles topped with Hands cream sauce, bacon, mushrooms and cheese. The noodles were wider and flatter than regular spaghetti, so the cream sauce clung to them nicely.

The cream sauce had a rich flavor that came through well, and there was more bacon than I expected, giving it a savory, salty edge. If you like rich cream pasta, this is a solidly good choice.

Why the chicken granola salad was the surprise favourite

Chicken granola salad loaded with vegetables

Surprisingly, the dish I liked most was the chicken granola salad. It was loaded with colorful vegetables that looked appetizing, and the veggies felt fresh. The chicken was shredded finely, so it was easy to eat with a fork, and the granola added a crunchy texture.

Crispy bread served alongside the salad

Best of all, the salad dressing was on the tangy side, so alternating between it and the cream pasta worked really well. Eating cream pasta alone can get a bit heavy, but the salad in between kept my palate feeling clean. Dipping the crispy bread that came with the salad into the pasta's cream sauce was also a surprisingly good combo.

Is Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch okay with a baby and a stroller?

Sofa seating comfortable for sitting with a baby

Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch has sofa seating and plenty of space on each floor, so it wasn't too uncomfortable visiting with a baby. Since our baby is still little, I always think about whether a café works for visiting together.

Having an elevator is especially convenient if you need to move around with a stroller. There's also floor seating on the 4th floor, so families visiting with a baby have a good range of seating options.

Final verdict on brunch at Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch

Table with the brunch set and a view of the scenery outside

Right after finishing the brunch, my first thought was 'the portion is decent, actually,' but as time passed I felt fuller and fuller. With pasta and salad served together, it was more than enough for a full meal, and I could fill up without feeling too heavy.

I usually go to Hands Coffee for waffles or coffee, but trying brunch this time showed me the menu lineup is better than I expected, and now I want to try other brunch items next time. It seems like a good spot if you're looking for a relaxed meal near Dongchon Resort, or want a solid meal instead of just coffee at a café.

With parking, a spacious layout and an elevator, it's convenient for family visits, and the pretty plating made it fun to photograph too. Visiting on a rainy weekend with our baby turned out to be a more satisfying time than expected.

I used to think Hands Coffee was only good for waffles, but now I know the brunch is good too — I'll have to try other menu items next time :) If you're looking for a good brunch spot in Dong-gu, Daegu, enjoy a relaxed brunch at Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch!
