Fried king prawns and draft beer at a Cheonan pork cutlet spot: Jinsim

Today I visited Jinsim Wang Donkatsu Cheonan Buldang, a pork cutlet spot in Cheonan's Buldang-dong neighborhood. While traveling around Cheonan and wondering what to eat, I suddenly craved pork cutlet and headed straight there for a delicious lunch haha

Jinsim Wang Donkatsu Cheonan Buldang: hours and parking

Jinsim Wang Donkatsu Cheonan Buldang is open 11:00–21:00, with a break time from 15:00–16:30 and last order at 20:30. For parking, you can use the building's basement lot!

After parking, you just tell the counter staff and they'll validate it for you haha. Parking around here isn't easy to find, so having a lot on site was really nice.

Inside the restaurant and where solo diners sit

The restaurant has a fairly generous number of tables and an overall clean atmosphere. I visited on a weekday lunch and saw a lot of nearby office workers there.

For anyone looking for a Cheonan spot good for eating alone, there are tables well suited for solo dining too haha. With the floor-to-ceiling windows, the sunlight pours in nicely.

The Jinsim Wang Donkatsu menu and what three of us ordered

With so many menu options, it was hard to decide, but the three of us ended up ordering the Jinsim Wang Double Donkatsu (₩15,900), Jinsim Wang Jjolmyeon (₩9,500), and fried king prawns (₩6,000)!

I heard the spicy anchovy kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) here is also good, so I'll have to try that next time haha.

Self-serve bar: soup, broth and wrap greens

Jinsim Wang Donkatsu Cheonan Buldang, a lunch favorite in Cheonan's Buldang-dong, has a self-serve bar where you can freely help yourself to basic side dishes haha. They even have scissors, tongs, and kids' tableware ready to go!

They even have broth and soup! It's rare these days to find a cutlet place that gives you soup — this is the best. Especially since pork cutlet can make you thirsty, having something soupy on hand is so nice haha.

Here are the side dishes, soup, and broth we grabbed from the self-serve bar haha. It's great that you can take whatever suits your taste, freely.

I like loading my soup with tons of pepper, so I went heavy on it lol. Having a warm soup before the meal warmed me up nicely.

Jinsim Wang Double Donkatsu, 15,900 won: how big is it?

Here's what we ordered: Jinsim Wang Double Donkatsu (₩15,900), Jinsim Wang Jjolmyeon (₩9,500), and fried king prawns (₩6,000). Wow, what a spread. The size of the cutlet is insane!

The cutlet is quite large, practically filling the plate, and the golden-brown, crispy coating looks so appetizing. The portion is really generous for the price, so the value is excellent.

They sliced up the crispy cutlet right there for us. I took a bite right away — the meat wasn't so thin that it felt like all breading, it had enough thickness for a proper chew. The frying was extremely crispy, and I loved that haha.

Is the spicy sauce worth adding?

We also added the spicy sauce separately, and this was truly the highlight. The sauce is quite spicy, and it cuts right through the richness of the cutlet 👍🏻👍🏻

If you like spicy food, I'd definitely recommend ordering it with the spicy sauce haha. The cutlet sauce here is so good.

Pork cutlet lettuce wraps with draft beer

Jinsim Wang Donkatsu Cheonan Buldang unusually has lettuce wraps at the self-serve bar, so you can make cutlet wraps. It was my first time ever wrapping pork cutlet — wrapping the crispy cutlet in lettuce and dipping it in ssamjang (wrap sauce) — and it's really unique lol.

While eating, I started craving beer, so we ordered draft beer too, and it went even better paired with the meal haha.

Jinsim Wang Jjolmyeon, 9,500 won: almost 1.5 servings

This is the Jinsim Wang Jjolmyeon we ordered, and true to its 'wang' (king-size) name, the portion is really generous. It's almost 1.5 servings..!!

They mixed up the jjolmyeon right there too. We tried it alongside the cutlet, and the noodles were so chewy and springy.

The seasoning wasn't too sweet — you could really taste the sweet-and-sour, spicy flavor, which paired really well with the cutlet haha. After eating a crispy, savory bite of cutlet, a bite of the tangy-spicy jjolmyeon felt like it cleansed the palate.

Fried king prawns, 6,000 won: worth ordering as a side?

And we can't leave out the fried king prawns we ordered as a side. True to their name, the prawns are on the larger side, so they stand out on the plate compared to regular fried shrimp.

Biting in, you first get the crispy crunch of the batter, then the springy prawn meat underneath! The prawn meat itself wasn't thin or mushy — it had a springy bounce when chewed, so I could really enjoy that distinctive fried shrimp texture haha.

It's especially good with the accompanying sauce!

By the way, there's a self-service packing station, so you can easily take home whatever food is left over haha.
