Kid-friendly gelato shop in Misa, Hanam: four flavors in two cups

In short

Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch is a handmade gelato shop in the Monolounge retail building on Misagangbyeonhangang-ro in Hanam, Gyeonggi. The writer came with two children and ordered two cups holding four flavors — milk plus lemon, and peach plus stracciatella — eaten at the outdoor tables. Because each cup at Damgeum Gelato takes two flavors, it works well for kids who want different things.

Gelato cup from Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch
Gelato cup placed on an outdoor table

We were out playing in Misa with the kids when I suddenly craved something sweet, so we stopped by Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch. My kids love ice cream no matter what, so this time I wanted to try something a little special — handmade gelato. This place makes its gelato right in the shop, and you can pick two flavors in one cup, which made it a great ice cream spot in Misa to visit with kids. We ordered two cups and tried four flavors total: milk + lemon, and peach + stracciatella.

Where to find handmade gelato in Misa

Large gelato model at the shop entrance

The moment we walked in, a big gelato model greeted us and the kids ran right over to check it out, haha.

Damgeum is said to serve handmade gelato based on Italian recipes, made right in the shop. What stood out to me was that they lower the sugar and fat while adding more raw ingredients, following their own Damgeum recipe. They also note that no chemical preservatives are added, which caught my eye as someone eating with kids. If you're looking for Misa ice cream and want something a bit different from regular ice cream, this is a place worth stopping by.

Inside Damgeum Gelato: small, warm and a little European

Indoor seating with an exotic atmosphere at Damgeum Gelato

Wood-toned furniture paired with uniquely patterned tiles gave the space a cozy yet warm and exotic feel. They also sell coffee alongside the gelato, so it seemed like a nice spot for kids to have gelato while the adults enjoy a coffee. There are indoor seats too, but since the weather was nice that day, we took the outdoor tables.

The four gelato flavors we picked at Damgeum Gelato

Two gelato cups each with two flavors

We ordered two gelato cups at Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch. Since you can choose two flavors per cup, we ended up picking milk + lemon and peach + stracciatella — four flavors in total.

The peach had a smoothly scoopable texture with a subtle fruit flavor, easy to enjoy without feeling heavy, while the milk was clean and mellow, which the kids especially loved. The lemon added a refreshing tang, and switching between it and the other flavors kept our mouths feeling clean. The stracciatella had a soft base with bits of chocolate texture running through it, giving it its own charm among the four. Being able to pick two flavors in one cup was really nice.

How the kids liked their own cups of gelato

Kids each holding their own gelato cup

At first I thought I'd share with them, but the moment the gelato arrived, both kids were too busy guarding their own cups, haha. Each with a spoon in hand, they dug in seriously. Sitting at the outdoor table, the sunlight came in so nicely and the green chairs matched the shop's vibe perfectly — that little stretch of time eating gelato was just really pleasant.

Next visit to Damgeum Gelato: a cone instead of a cup

This time we ordered cups so the kids could eat more easily, but seeing the big cone model in the shop the whole time made me want to try it in a cone next time. I loved the soft texture unique to handmade gelato, and being able to choose two flavors in one cup made it a great place to bring kids with different preferences. If you're looking for a Misa restaurant or Misa ice cream, try picking two flavors to your taste at Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch. We're planning to come back and try different flavors in a cone next time. :)
