Gwacheon lunch: duck chadol BBQ and Cheongwadae jjamppong at Deo
In short
Deo Chadol is a duck and chadol (beef brisket) BBQ restaurant in a quiet alley on Ttwitgol 2-ro in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi. Visiting just past the lunch peak meant a short wait, and the writer ordered duck chadol BBQ plus the Cheongwadae duck chadol jjamppong, with the clean-tasting duck and spicy-tangy special sauce the standout combo. Order the BBQ and jjamppong together at Deo Chadol and it's hard to go wrong.

Gwacheon restaurant 'Deo Chadol'

There was a wait even after the lunch peak
This is a Gwacheon restaurant with Naver Reservation available. We went a bit after the lunch peak time... and there was still a small wait. The place is spacious though, so the wait was short. I could really tell it's popular.
Hours
- Mon–Fri 11:00–21:30 / break time 15:00–17:00 / last order 20:30

A Gwacheon restaurant open every day. It's in a quiet alley, and the alley itself is super clean and stylish-feeling.
Parking
You can park right in front of the building, and a friendly parking attendant guided us to park comfortably across from the store.

The weather was so nice I took a shot of the street and the sky together — so good~~~~

The Cheongwadae duck chadol jjamppong caught my eye on the lunch special menu
They also sell simpler dishes as a lunch special, and the 'Cheongwadae duck chadol jjamppong' caught my eye... I told myself I had to try this, and went in!!!!

Why are there so many celebrity autographs here haha... it was fun to look around and guess who's been here.

Menu recommendation: duck chadol BBQ + chadol jjamppong
There are a lot of set menus too, but I wasn't really in the mood for the seasoned marinated version, so I ordered just the grilled BBQ. So satisfying, you have no idea.
- Duck chadol BBQ
- Chadol jjamppong
- Highly recommend this combo ~!~!~!~!

How was the duck meat?
It came out clean, not mushy at all. Every review says it's mild and clean-tasting, and it really is. But it's not dry either. I thought the quality was really excellent.

They also give you minari (water dropwort), mushrooms, and onion — eating the minari together with the duck is genuinely delicious, so if you love minari you might want to add extra.

Since it's chadol (thin-cut brisket), it grills up fast, which made this Gwacheon spot Deo Chadol even better.

The special sauce
The special sauce is... genuinely special. A little spicy and a little tangy, and so good it hurts ㅠㅠ.... What even is this sauce method!!!!
The sauce was so good the meat never got tiring. I think I properly overate for the first time in a while.

Try the special sauce and you'll understand why I'm praising it this much.... I want to go back already...

Is the chadol jjamppong spicy?
Does it look spicy? It's not actually spicy~~ more like a savory kick?! Even kids would probably enjoy it. There are lots of vegetables and plenty of meat, so it's filling enough as a full meal on its own. I saw people who came alone and just ordered the jjamppong. If it were closer to home I'd probably do that too.

The noodles had good chewiness too... I ate it very happily. There was a faint smoky char flavor as well, but not an artificial smoky taste, which I really liked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's it for my very satisfied review of Deo Chadol, my go-back-to spot in Gwacheon.
