Samgyeopsal grilled in the kitchen, Hwamyeong-dong Busan: Go Ok-hui
In short
Go Ok-hui Hwamyeong Main Branch is a pork belly (samgyeopsal) restaurant on Hwamyeong-daero in Buk-gu, Busan, where the meat is grilled in the kitchen and brought out ready to eat. On a Saturday evening, three diners shared the medium 700g platter (2 plain pork belly, 1 seasoned rib-flavored pork belly, 1 pork skin) plus perilla oil buckwheat noodles, with no smoke at the table. Free kids' rice for children under 6 and 2 hours of underground parking make Go Ok-hui an easy choice for family dinners and group meals.

Where is Go Ok-hui Hwamyeong Main Branch in Busan?
Go Ok-hui Hwamyeong Main Branch is a pre-grilled samgyeopsal (pork belly) restaurant on the 1st floor at 10 Hwamyeong-daero, Buk-gu, Busan. You can park in the building's underground lot, with 2 hours free. It's a clean, tidy Korean BBQ restaurant in Hwamyeong-dong that's great for get-togethers.

Since it's a popular spot in Hwamyeong-dong, there tends to be a wait during peak hours. I'd recommend making a reservation.

Why Go Ok-hui is easy with kids
At Go Ok-hui Hwamyeong Main Branch, kids' rice is free for those under 6. Since the meat comes already grilled and kids' rice is free too, it's easy to come as a family. There's even a guide on the wall for how to eat the meat the tastiest way. You really can't go wrong with the meat here.

This is the mark of a generous, tasty BBQ place — they don't let portion size become a complaint. At Go Ok-hui, a beloved spot in Hwamyeong-dong, they give you a bit more than what you ordered. Such a thoughtful, meticulous restaurant, love it 😘 Write 2 reviews and you even get buckwheat noodles~

How to order at Go Ok-hui: platter sizes explained
At Go Ok-hui, you first order a platter, then can add more meat afterward. Platters come in small, medium, and large sizes, and you can choose plain pork belly or seasoned pork belly. The plain option is aged pure pork belly, and choosing a seasoned option adds to the price.
- Rib-seasoned pork belly
- Charcoal gochujang pork belly
- Pollack roe pork belly, and more
There were so many varieties and they all looked delicious, so I agonized over the choice quite a bit. You can also swap the pork skin for grillable cheese instead.

Side dishes, salts and dipping powders at Go Ok-hui
The side dishes that came out first at Go Ok-hui Hwamyeong Main Branch were varied and neatly presented.

I'm a total sucker for myeongi namul (wild garlic leaves) and aged kimchi, and they gave generous amounts, so I really ate my fill 👍 The scallion pickle in the middle was especially good.

Pink salt, curry powder, injeolmi (rice cake) powder — dip to your taste.

After ordering the meat, the grilled vegetables came out first. They sprinkled black pepper on top for us.

The 700g medium platter, grilled and plated for you
I ordered the mid platter (700g). It's made up of 2 plain pork belly, 1 seasoned rib-flavored pork belly, and 1 pork skin.
While we grilled vegetables, they plated the meat — already grilled — on a pre-heated induction hot plate. After ordering, the meat came out fast. Since it's grilled in the kitchen, you don't have to breathe in spicy smoke, which was really convenient. No need to grill more, just eat right away.

A beautifully finished platter 🤤 Maybe because it was Saturday, but there seemed to be a lot of people at Go Ok-hui, a beloved BBQ spot in Hwamyeong-dong, out not just for family dinners but for group gatherings too. It's a great samgyeopsal restaurant that's also clean and has a good atmosphere, perfect for a weekday dinner or a weekend get-together.
Plain pork belly
First bite was the plain pork belly. It came out grilled nice and soft. It has a basic seasoning already, so it's good eaten plain or paired with side dishes.
Rib-marinated pork belly
This one tastes like a teriyaki sauce. Also grilled nicely soft. It went really well with wasabi and was delicious.
Pork skin
The thick, spicy seasoning went well with the chewy pork skin. Being spicy, it's the kind of flavor that keeps your chopsticks coming back ~?! 😊

I tried eating it the way Go Ok-hui recommends. They told us to try wrapping the seasoned rib-flavored pork belly with potato, which was a first for me but really tasty. The portions of meat were really generous. Even with 3 of us eating, the amount was just right.

Perilla oil buckwheat noodles to finish the meal
Perilla oil buckwheat noodles was the meal item I picked after debating with doenjang stew. I went with my gut, and later found out it was one of the best menu items at Go Ok-hui, a favorite BBQ spot in Hwamyeong-dong!

After mixing it thoroughly and taking a bite, it was genuinely delicious 🎆🎊 The nuttiness of the perilla oil and the perilla seed aroma doubled up — it's like carbonara but distinctly Korean. No wonder it's a best-seller. Since the perilla noodles were so good, I got curious about the pyogo mushroom rice, another best-seller. I was too full though, so I'll save that for next time 😉

The finishing station to check on your way out
Go Ok-hui's thoughtful finishing station has mouthwash, toothpicks, floss, candy, and even yogurt drinks. Have a yogurt drink and rinse with mouthwash, and it's perfect. Had a really delicious dinner at Go Ok-hui Hwamyeong Main Branch, a beloved restaurant in Buk-gu, Busan's Hwamyeong-dong.
