Ogeum Station café for unsweetened matcha latte: Grid Cafe
In short
Grid Cafe is a salt bread bakery café on Macheon-ro in Songpa, Seoul, a short walk from Ogeum Station. Grid Cafe's cream salt bread and chocolate egg tart came with an unsweetened matcha latte and the signature vanilla cream cold brew, and the matcha latte stayed pleasantly bitter with no syrup, which balanced the sweet bread. Since the bread and desserts lean quite sweet, Grid Cafe works best when the order is paired with an unsweetened drink.

On lazy afternoons like these lately, I keep craving something sweet alongside a cold drink. So for a little mood switch, I headed to Grid Cafe, known as a salt bread hotspot among Songpa cafés.
Grid Cafe hours, closing day and location near Ogeum Station
Grid Cafe is on the 1st floor of 146 Macheon-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul, near Ogeum Station. It's open Tue–Sun 09:00–18:00, last order 17:30, closed Mondays.
What Grid Cafe looks like from outside and when each bread comes out

Arriving at the storefront, the neat, clean exterior along with its TV-show fame got me excited.

The signboard outside had a detailed breakdown of when each bread comes out. From 9am, freshly baked egg tarts, plain salt bread, scones, and ciabatta come out first, and around 10:30–11am, fusion salt breads like garlic butter, streusel, and cream follow. Since it's such a popular neighborhood bakery that things sell out fast, it was reassuring to hear they keep baking small batches steadily throughout the day.

Inside Grid Cafe: seating and the bread showcase
Walking in, a mild, nutty butter aroma spread through the air and instantly lifted my mood. True to its reputation as a Songpa café salt bread hotspot, the clear showcase was packed with golden-brown, mouthwatering breads of every kind.

The interior is cozy but the warm wood tones blend nicely with the white walls, making it comfortable whether you're sitting alone or chatting quietly with a friend.

The window seats with soft natural light were full of atmosphere too — I really liked them.

Unsweetened matcha latte and vanilla cream cold brew at Grid Cafe
Wanting a proper sugar recharge and some relaxed time that day, I ordered cream salt bread, chocolate egg tart, and two drinks to go with them.

The first thing I tried was the matcha latte, and I chose the unsweetened option. There was truly zero syrup sweetness, so the bitter, deep flavor of real matcha came through fully. It wasn't heavy or chalky — just cleanly bitter, and it made for an unbeatable pairing with the sweet bread.

Next I had the signature vanilla cream cold brew, and I really loved this one. The vanilla cream on top wasn't overly rich or greasy, and it blended naturally with the clean, aromatic cold brew underneath — quite charming.
How the cream salt bread and chocolate egg tart taste
The cream salt bread was what I'd been most looking forward to, and slicing it in half with a knife revealed white cream packed generously all the way through.

The salt bread's signature saltiness and chewiness combined with the sweet cream — a little too sweet for my taste, but it was a satisfying sugar fix.

The chocolate egg tart we also tried had a crisp, well-baked flaky crust packed heavily with rich, fudgy chocolate filling. This one was quite sweet too, and anyone who loves sweet chocolate would definitely enjoy it.
