How long was the wait on a weekday at 2pm?

I visited Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu in Yongin with my boyfriend's parents. We came around 2pm on a weekday and there was a short wait, and the place was already packed inside. (Apparently the wait on weekends is insane...) Such a great spot for affordable shabu-shabu .ᐟ

The place was genuinely full, adults and kids alike

How to order at Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu through CatchTable

☝️ How to order 1. Register on CatchTable 2. Fill out the order form 3. When you get the entry notification on KakaoTalk, go in

That's normally the order you'd follow! But we just registered on CatchTable and then got caught up chatting outside about parking and whatnot, so we forgot to fill out the order form ..😥 When the KakaoTalk entry notification came, we rushed in, and the staff just told us to order on the tablet at the table! So we skipped the order form entirely, got seated right away, and ordered on the tablet.

Red broth (mild spice) (₩11,500 × 3)

When we visited, they had kong-simchae (water spinach) instead of minari (water dropwort). It was a totally different vibe from minari's fragrant scent — crunchy, kind of like spinach? or bok choy? This was my first time having kong-simchae in shabu-shabu, and blanching it lightly in the broth with the meat was actually pretty good?

Vegetable add-ons: kong-simchae and oyster mushrooms at 4,000 won each

Both my boyfriend and I, and his parents too, are the type who go to shabu-shabu places for the veggies more than the meat ,, ,,,🌿🥬 We ended up a little short on vegetables. The meat was plenty, but since we're all vegetable people, the kong-simchae and mushrooms disappeared fast ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ You can order extra kong-simchae or oyster mushrooms for ₩4,000 each! Recommended if you're the type who piles on the veggies like us 👍🏻

Even just from the photo, the kong-simchae looks crunchy, right?

Cooking the kalguksu noodles: 6 minutes at induction level 8

Next was the kalguksu (knife-cut noodles). Following the instructions, 📌 we boiled it at induction level 8 for about 6 minutes, and the noodles came out perfectly cooked! When I said, "Mom, I'm going to take a photo!" she instantly became my hand model ㅋㅋㅋ "Should I do it like this~?" "Or like that~?" she said, helping me get the shot — she's honestly so adorable... .....❤️

Fried rice to finish, and what the parents thought of Yun Ujae

We cleared even the final fried rice .ᐟ The owner was super kind, and even with customers pouring in nonstop, all the staff kept treating everyone politely. Everyone was so nice even during a busy stretch that we left the meal feeling great.

I'd had a health checkup that morning and had been fasting since the night before .. Once the checkup was done, I was thinking about what to eat that wasn't spicy or heavy, and that's how I found Yun Ujae Shabu-shabu. It's apparently a pretty famous shabu-shabu place in Yongin, and after visiting and eating it ourselves, it really was satisfying 〰️🫶🏻
