Nampo Station sushi restaurant with engawa nigiri: Moshi Moshi Sushi

In short

Moshi Moshi Sushi Lotte Department Store Gwangbok is a Japanese sushi restaurant on the 10th floor of the main building at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok in Jung-gu, Busan. Two of us ordered Set no. 4 — 18 pieces of sushi, shrimp tempura and udon — and worked through engawa (halibut fin), salmon futomaki, beef, yukhoe (raw beef) and abalone nigiri, with the engawa sushi the clear best pick. Moshi Moshi Sushi makes an easy, quiet lunch near Nampo Station in the middle of a shopping trip.

I had lunch at a Nampo Station favorite the other day! haha I've been obsessed with sushi lately, so I figured I'd combine some department store browsing with a Nampo outing and check out Moshi Moshi Sushi!

Where is Moshi Moshi Sushi Gwangbok, and what are the hours?

Moshi Moshi Sushi Lotte Department Store Gwangbok is on the 10th floor of the main building at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok, 2 Jungang-daero, Jung-gu, Busan. It's open 10:30–21:00, with last order at 20:10.

Moshi Moshi Sushi is such a cute name lol. Turns out it's a brand that's set up shop inside department stores. There are three locations in Busan, and besides the Pusan National University branch, there's also one at Lotte Dongnae! Getting into a department store isn't easy from what I know, so my expectations were already climbing.

Entrance to Moshi Moshi Sushi on the 10th floor of Lotte Department Store Gwangbok

This Nampo favorite Japanese restaurant, Moshi Moshi Sushi, sits on the 10th floor of Lotte. We could've just zipped up by elevator, but since we wanted to browse the store, we took the escalator up slowly, taking it all in haha. A big plus is that if you're shopping at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok and get hungry, you can just drop by!

The interior of Moshi Moshi Sushi Gwangbok was clean and bigger than expected. You sit at an open table and order via tablet.

Being a department store spot, the interior was really clean and more spacious than I expected! It also felt like a great place to come with family, and the music inside wasn't too loud, so I could just focus on the meal — that felt like a big plus too haha.

As soon as you walk in, cute little cats greet you! You just sit at whichever open table you want and order via tablet haha.

Oh, so their original branch must be the Pusan National University location haha. They have set menus for different group sizes, so if you're overwhelmed deciding on individual items, going with a set might be the way to go!

What comes in Set no. 4 and the sushi platter

We ordered set no. 4, which came with sushi, shrimp tempura, and udon!

Their signature sushi platter is a great-value menu in the ₩20,000s that lets you try both noodles and sushi! Sounds perfect for when you're torn over what to order solo haha.

Set table with basic side dishes

I didn't expect a review event inside a department store, but they had one going haha. Leave a review and get 2 free pieces of shrimp sushi! Not bad, right?!

They brought out side dishes, served in pretty bowls, which somehow made even a simple salad and rakkyo (pickled scallions) feel a bit special haha.

Sushi set including engawa and futomaki

The 18 pieces of sushi, udon and shrimp tempura

Set no. 4's sushi came in 18 pieces, including higher-end options like engawa (fluke fin), futomaki, and eel. The udon was generous in portion and the broth wasn't light.

A bowl of udon packed with toppings

The delicious-looking sushi arrived. It's 18 pieces, and they made sure not to overlap too many of the same kind — including higher-end sushi like engawa, futomaki, and eel!

Golden fried shrimp tempura

The udon that came alongside had a pretty generous portion too. I love those flakes on top, and with the bowl packed full of toppings, it was so good haha.

Even from the video you can tell the portion is pretty big and the broth isn't light at all, right?!

Eel sushi topped with pepper

Eating the udon while staring at that glistening sushi haha, I had no idea where to start. Doesn't all that raw fish on top look super fresh too?

And finally, the shrimp tempura! As a shrimp lover, this was an emotional visual for me. I'm also not a fan of shrimp tempura with a super thin coating, but seeing that golden, crispy tempura clearly fried in just the right oil made me feel like a million bucks lol.

Salmon futomaki packed with salmon

The sauce that came with it paired really well too — not your typical salty soy sauce, but something that suited the tempura even better haha. The shrimp inside was so plump too!

Well-prepared abalone sushi

Beef, salmon and yukhoe nigiri — and why engawa was the best pick

The best sushi at Moshi Moshi Sushi Gwangbok was the engawa. It started with beef sushi, then moved through eel, salmon futomaki, abalone, salmon, yukhoe (beef tartare), and white fish.

So my first pick? Beef sushi! It started us off with sweet beef sushi, and it exceeded expectations haha.

The eel sushi was seasoned just right too, with a bit of spicy pepper on top cutting through the richness nicely haha.

Sweet and savory yukhoe sushi

And the salmon futomaki was so good too. I genuinely love futomaki, and this one had an especially generous amount of salmon, which made me really happy!

The abalone was also very well prepared haha. I'm not that into abalone so I gave it to my friend, and she nodded along approvingly lol. Coming from a friend with a pretty picky palate, that
