Sum is a large bakery café on Ojeon-gil in Namhansanseong-myeon, Gwangju, Gyeonggi. Stopping by on an autumn foliage drive, I had coffee and bakery items while looking out at the forest through the café's big picture windows, and with seating on the first floor, second floor and a separate annex, finding a table was easy. Sum works well as the last rest stop on a Namhansanseong outing.
Yakiniku Pungyeong is a Japanese-style charcoal grill beef restaurant in Poil-dong, Uiwang, near Indeogwon Station, open since 2012. At a window seat overlooking the park, two people ate wagyu premium beef tongue and marinated premium short rib for two with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and a green tangerine highball for 99,000 won total, plus generous complimentary tomato, melon, canapés and a lucky-draw rice ball. Yakiniku Pungyeong is a good choice when you want charcoal-grilled beef and a relaxed atmosphere in one meal.

The order was two servings of domestic king-size pork ribs (300g each), rice and mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup), plus a kimchi pancake cooked at the self-serve corner. Galbigumteo is an easy family dinner after a movie, with parking both in front of and behind the building.
Lapins is a dessert café on Seodongdae-ro 8830beon-gil in Janghowon-eup, Icheon, Gyeonggi. The writer and her husband ordered the signature fig earl grey tart (8,500 won) with a chocolate latte and a red smoothie made from 100% plums, then took a Basque cheesecake and financiers home. As a dessert spot in Janghowon, Lapins earns a full 10 out of 10.
