Bolli-dong, Daegu makchang restaurant with pork stew: Supbul Makchang
In short
Supbul Makchang is a makchang (grilled pork intestine) restaurant in Bolli-dong, Dalseo, Daegu, fitted out with bamboo and wood tones. In the glass-walled annex we had grilled Iberico makchang for 13,000 won and Iberico makchang for 12,000 won with a small black pork bomb stew for 13,000 won and Cheongdo Hanjae minari for 3,000 won. Between the pre-grilled makchang, the generous stew and the photogenic annex, Supbul Makchang covers every base.

Daegu means makchang (grilled pork intestine), right? 😋 Today I visited Supbul Makchang, a place that nailed both the taste and the vibe. It had this Studio Ghibli forest-restaurant feel, and the meat was delicious too 🌿 If you're hunting for a makchang spot in Bolli-dong, Daegu, save this one. Let me introduce Supbul Makchang, where flavor and atmosphere both hit the mark~!

Where is Supbul Makchang, and what are the hours and parking?
Supbul Makchang is at 18 Daemyeongcheon-ro 42-gil, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, open daily from 17:00 to 24:00. Last order is 23:00, and it's closed every Monday. Parking is available, plus valet, so it was easy to get to by car.
Ghibli-like exterior and a bamboo forest entrance
The exterior of Supbul Makchang is wood-toned with a space styled like a bamboo forest, so even with plenty of restaurants nearby, it stood out right away!

It gave off a slight vibe of a grill house in Japan, and with the wood-toned exterior and bamboo-forest styling, I had to double-check — is this really a makchang place...? 🤭 I get why they named it Supbul Makchang (forest-fire makchang) now! The storefront peeking through the bamboo was so pretty I kept snapping photos before I even walked in 📸

Main hall or glass-wall annex: which seats are the photo spot?
The main hall at Supbul Makchang was already spacious, but it turns out there's an annex too!

The moment I opened the door to the annex — whoa...... what is this place? 😳 It was truly the photo spot itself, haha. Is it even allowed for a makchang place to be this aesthetic and pretty~~

The annex has floor-to-ceiling windows, so it felt open and airy rather than closed in. The space is spacious too, great for a big group, whether it's friends grabbing a meal or a family dinner. When the lights come on at night the atmosphere probably gets even prettier, so I'd secretly recommend it as a date spot too 💚 If you're looking for a family gathering place in Daegu, the spacious layout makes for a comfortable meal!
What we ordered at Supbul Makchang and what it cost
Supbul Makchang's menu is soooo varied that we deliberated for a while.

After much deliberation, here's what we ordered!

- 🥩 Grilled free-range Iberico makchang ₩13,000
- 🥩 Iberico makchang ₩12,000
- 🍲 Black pork bomb stew (small) ₩13,000
- 🌿 Cheongdo Hanjae minari ₩3,000
How does this combo sound? I fully recommend it, haha.

Once we ordered, the food came out and the visuals were insane???!!!! True to the overall vibe of Supbul Makchang, even the meat was plated beautifully. How could I not take photos then? 📸💕 After a round of photos, it was time to actually grill!
How spicy is the pre-grilled spicy makchang?
Supbul Makchang's makchang comes pre-grilled once, so you only need to finish it off a little more at the table!

Grilled until golden-brown, the texture was exactly right — crispy outside, chewy inside. A good Daegu makchang spot needs the makchang itself to taste great, haha. The grilled version leans spicy, so if you can't handle spice, keep that in mind 🌶️ For me, the spiciness just made my chopsticks keep reaching back, haha.
A bite of makchang with minari (water dropwort) was also so good 🌿 We also ordered the Cheongdo Hanjae minari, and paired with the meat it cut through the richness and added a fragrant note — it worked really well!
Don't skip the Iberico pork neck
And the dish we were surprisingly impressed by was the pork neck! Being free-range Iberico pork, it was incredibly tender.

I came expecting just makchang, so I was surprised the pork neck was this good too, haha. Tender with juicy flavor coming through — a great menu item to order if anyone in your group doesn't like makchang.
Black pork bomb stew: is the small size enough?
Supbul Makchang's black pork bomb stew is ₩13,000 for the small size, but the portion was pretty huge.

Black pork bomb stew! The name already says 'bomb,' and the portion really was a bomb too, haha.

The spicy broth was packed with meat, plus plenty of vegetables and tofu — a bite of meat, a spoonful of broth... total mouth happiness 🤤 Especially between bites of makchang, a spoonful of hot spicy stew was an insane combo 🥰

And they packed the rice bowl generously too — kudos to the generous owner 👏🏻 When you want more than just meat, the stew and rice together complete the meal!
What's at the self-serve bar?
The self-serve bar at Supbul Makchang had various lettuce, side dishes, and sauces set up, so we could freely refill anything we ran low on.

The self-serve bar was kept neat and clean too. I eat a lot of lettuce wraps when having meat, so I love places with a self-serve bar like this, haha 🌿 Being able to take as much as you want made it easy to mix and match with the meat!
Is Supbul Makchang in Daegu worth a visit?

After this visit, I get why people eat makchang in Daegu, haha. The delicious makchang was great, but the combo of Iberico pork neck, pork stew, and minari was a great lineup too! Most of all, instead of a typical grill house vibe, the space styled with bamboo and wood tones was so pretty I felt good the entire meal 🌿✨
If you're looking for a good spot in Bolli-dong, Daegu, hunting for a Daegu makchang restaurant, planning a meat night with friends, or looking for a family gathering place in Daegu, the spacious layout and annex make it worth checking out! We left with delicious makchang and pork stew, thoroughly full to the very end 🤭 If you're wondering where to eat makchang in Daegu, I recommend Supbul Makchang, where the vibe is just as good as the food~~~ 🔥💚
