Korean BBQ with kids in Baegot, Siheung: steamed egg at Hamdon Baegot
In short
Hamdon Baegot is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Baegot, Siheung, Gyeonggi, where staff grill aged pork at the table. On a weekday evening with no wait, the order was pork belly (ogyeopsal), pork neck (mokssal) and the steamed egg (gyeranjjim) the writer's child loved, served with a bone soup and minari with deodeok gochujang that come free once with the first order. Wrapping thick pork belly in raw minari was the most memorable bite at Hamdon Baegot.

I was racking my brain over what to have for dinner in Baegot when I suddenly craved meat, so I headed to a place right by my house — Hamdon Baegot. Every time I passed by there was a line, so I never dared to try it, but I finally went on a weekday evening a bit past dinner rush with no wait at all. Here's my write-up of Hamdon Baegot, a Korean BBQ restaurant in Baegot.

Where is Hamdon Baegot, and what is the restaurant like?
Hamdon Baegot sits on Seoul National University-ro 264beon-gil in Siheung, and the big Hamdon sign is visible from far away, so the place wasn't hard to find.

Near the entrance I spotted an aging chamber where the meat is stored, which really gave off the feel of a proper BBQ specialist even before I stepped inside.

Once inside, every table had its own grill plate and hood installed. The overall vibe was tidy, with soft lighting and a view outside that gave it a bit of a camping feel — I liked it.

I could comfortably browse the menu right from the ordering screen at the table.

What we ordered at Hamdon Baegot: pork belly, pork neck and steamed egg
This time at Hamdon Baegot we picked pork belly, pork neck, and steamed egg (gyeranjjim). The menu had reasonably priced set meals, à la carte options for tasting things individually, plus yukhoe (raw beef) and Korean beef charcoal chadolbaegi. There was a wide range of cuts and side dishes too, along with kimchi jjigae sold as a lunch special, and kid-friendly options like bone soup, steamed egg, and naengmyeon — nothing was missing.
Rather than sticking to one cut, we wanted to try both the savory pork belly and the leaner pork neck, so we ordered both. And since my kid is obsessed with steamed egg, we ordered that too.

Side dishes plus the free bone soup and minari deodeok gochujang
After ordering, they set the table for us, and the neat presentation made us feel well taken care of. Green onion kimchi, wasabi, garlic chili, pickles — everything paired perfectly with the meat, so we never got tired of eating.

The bone soup and minari with deodeok gochujang are given free of charge, but only once on your first order.

The bone soup was seriously insane... They set it right on an induction burner so it stayed hot until the very end, and the broth was so rich, with generous meat even though it was free, that my kid finished a whole bowl of rice in it and we enjoyed it so much we debated ordering another one.

In the meantime the bomb steamed egg arrived — this place is a steamed egg specialist, no joke! It came out all fluffy and puffy, and my kid kept scooping rice into it, so I had to say, hey, you need to eat some meat too! haha
Aged pork grilled first by the staff
The best part of Hamdon Baegot is that staff pre-grill the meat for you like a first pass. Since dripping fat onto charcoal can suddenly flare up, having a professional hand do the grilling means the meat comes out delicious.

While we were still working through the bone soup, our ordered meat arrived. Being aged meat, you could even see the sheen and stickiness in it with the naked eye. Look at that gorgeous color — I immediately knew I'd be overeating today.

We love dipping pork in meljeot (salted fermented anchovy), and Hamdon Baegot has it too, so it gets simmered bubbling away while the meat grills.

Once it's grilled to a certain point, the staff cut it into pieces just right for flipping and finishing yourself, then step away. But they told us to always call them over when adding new meat. Since you can't let good meat turn into badly grilled meat, we made sure to call every time haha.

How did the pork belly and pork neck taste?
Did you know good meat tastes savory even with just a dip of salt? I always eat my first bite with just salt, and this one passed with flying colors. It was bursting with juices and full of that savory flavor, and pork neck can get dry if overgrilled, right? But it was cooked to just the right point, staying tender enough that my kid ate it up happily too.

We dipped it in meljeot too and tried every side dish from the table setting one by one — the green onion kimchi and pickled meljeot were my favorites, though honestly all of the sides paired well with the meat.

Eat the minari raw as a wrap, not grilled
Minari tasted far better dipped in gochujang and wrapped with the meat rather than grilled. Since it's not the kind of setup where you sizzle it in oil, I'd definitely recommend eating it raw. The staff also told us to wrap it and eat it that way haha.

When you're eating meat, timing can get off and pieces can burn, but here there's a spot on the grill where you can set meat aside, so we got to enjoy every last piece deliciously to the end.

Is Hamdon Baegot worth it for Korean BBQ in Baegot?
Eating pork belly and pork neck together let us enjoy two different tastes and textures, which was great. Best of all, we weren't just eating meat plain — switching up sides like minari and green onion kimchi kept things interesting until the very end. My favorite combo by far was thick-cut pork belly wrapped with minari. If you're in Baegot craving pork belly or pork neck and looking for Korean BBQ in the area, give Hamdon Baegot a visit.
