Vanilla bean cream latte and crispy salt bread: Songdo café Cozy Bear

In short

Cafe Cozy Bear Salt Bread Bakery Songdo Hagwonga Branch is a salt bread bakery café on the 1st floor of Caris Plaza in the hagwon (private academy) district of Songdo, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. Over a weekday lunch break with her mother, the writer ordered the plain salt bread for 3,500 won, a hot yuja tea and an iced vanilla bean cream latte — the salt bread had a very crisp bottom and the latte's cream was thick and heavy. With 1 hour of free basement parking, Cozy Bear works well for a short break or a takeout stop.

Where is Cozy Bear, and is there parking in the Songdo hagwon district?

Cozy Bear is on the 1st floor of Caris Plaza, a commercial building in the Songdo hagwon district. After finishing a weekday lunch with my mom, I was looking for somewhere to grab a light drink — and that's how I ended up at Cozy Bear, this Incheon Songdo café and bakery. Being on the ground floor of a hagwon-district commercial building, it's an easy stop for nearby parents and students passing by.

Parking around the Songdo hagwon district alleys is usually tight, but Caris Plaza's basement parking lot offers 1 hour free. Given the parking time limit, I'd recommend this place mainly for takeout or a short break.

Inside Cozy Bear: seating, and strollers out on the terrace

Inside Cozy Bear there's a baking area, so the table space is on the smaller side. If you're bringing a stroller, the terrace seats would work well.

It has that cute neighborhood bakery café feel. I noticed quite a few moms chatting casually and students dropping by before or after academy classes.

Cozy Bear's menu and what we ordered: yuja tea and vanilla bean cream latte

The smell of salt bread was drifting through the whole café. My mom picked a warm yuja tea (citron tea), and I went with the vanilla bean cream latte from the BEST menu.

There were so many kinds of salt bread, but after some deliberation I just went with the plain one.

How does Cozy Bear's 3,500-won plain salt bread taste?

(Bakery) Plain salt bread, ₩3,500. Living up to its status as Cozy Bear's signature item, the bottom of the bread was incredibly crispy. Savory and salty, I can see why it's so popular.

Hot yuja tea vs. iced vanilla bean cream latte at Cozy Bear

(Drinks) Hot yuja tea / iced vanilla bean cream latte. The warm yuja tea was sweet and tangy — a nice, easy sip. And they really didn't hold back on the cream for the vanilla bean cream latte! The texture of the cream was so thick and heavy.
