Rolling Pasta Suwon Station Branch is a pasta restaurant on the second floor right in front of Exit 12 of Suwon Station in Suwon, Gyeonggi. Two friends who love pasta ordered SET A (27,500 won), which came with aglio e olio, rosé cream shrimp pasta, a small margherita pizza and a cherry coke. The rosé cream shrimp pasta with 5 to 6 shrimp was the friend's favourite, while the fragrant, garlicky aglio e olio was the writer's pick.
Brothers Yangpyeong Haejangguk Naechon Branch is a haejangguk (hangover soup) restaurant on Geumgang-ro in Naechon-myeon, Pocheon, Gyeonggi, close to Gwangneung CC. The yangchang tang (beef tripe and intestine soup) and naejang tang (beef intestine soup) are eaten with a sauce mixed at the table from the house mustard sauce, pickled chili, perilla powder and chili oil, and the broth came out rich without tasting heavy. Brothers Yangpyeong Haejangguk opens at 05:00 and has a large free lot, making it an easy group stop after a round of golf or a drive through Pocheon.

On an evening date for two, the writer ordered Set 1 for two — cotto e ricotta pizza, cream gnocchi 8pc and shrimp rosé pasta — and all three dishes arrived almost at the same time. The fully peeled shrimp and the deeply tomato-forward rosé sauce were the highlights of the meal.
Kkamon Bundang Jeongja Direct Store is a Vietnamese pho restaurant within walking distance of Jeongja Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. On a weekday dinner visit with her son, the writer ordered pork backbone pho at 13,000 won, bánh cuốn (steamed rice rolls) at 14,000 won and chả giò (fried spring rolls) at 8,000 won, and each had its own appeal: a huge pork backbone, chewy rice sheets and crisp rolls. Bongpyeong Gohyang Makguksu is a house-made noodle restaurant serving makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles) and kalguksu on Hoguk-ro in Wondang, Goyang, Gyeonggi. Arriving right at opening with his parents, the writer ordered the half suyuk plate (boiled pork, 12,000 won), a half meat and half kimchi mandu, perilla buckwheat makguksu and warm makguksu, starting the meal with hot buckwheat tea from the self-serve corner. With a large dedicated parking lot and an unhurried dining hall, Bongpyeong Gohyang Makguksu is an easy Wondang pick for a meal at any age.
Yuwolae Mijangwon Suwon Gwanggyo Branch is a hair salon on the 8th floor of SK View Lake Tower A Business Tower, near Gwanggyo Central Station in Suwon, Gyeonggi. Ends damaged by dyeing and perming were trimmed into a light tassel cut that kept the overall length, and designer Lara checked the hair's condition to decide where the layers should sit. Yuwolae Mijangwon serves no tea, but the detail in the cut made the visit well worth it.
