Xpa is an EMS spa and body contouring center near Mangpo Station in Yeongtong, Suwon, that combines low-frequency stimulation with a half-body bath. Staff recommend 20 minutes a day about twice a week; the session worked the abdomen, arms and legs, the massage mode eased leg swelling, and the InBody reading showed weight down and muscle up. For anyone who sits all day and can't find time to exercise, Xpa is a low-effort way to manage body shape.

Baekseok Kkogijip is a samgyeopsal and marinated pork restaurant in the Baekseok food alley in Ilsandong-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi. Four high school friends ordered the 3–4 person set with the raw pork and kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) option, which arrived with beef tartare and steamed egg before the samgyeopsal came out fully grilled, and they added 2 servings of marinated pork at the end. Yuksul is a mungtigi (hand-cut raw beef) and yukhoe bar on the yajang outdoor bar street in Gojan-dong, Ansan, Gyeonggi. Meeting an old friend on a weekday, we ordered the weekday-only mungbanhansang set (61,000 won) and soju, and ate the mungtigi, sashimi, and yukhoe following the pairing recipe served with it. One platter at Yuksul kept the flavors rotating through the whole drinking session.

The writer ordered the three-person size with three flavors — sweet, cheese seasoning (ppuringkeul) and plain fried — took it to go and ate it at a nearby park with a baby along, alternating between sweet, salty cheese and plain so no bite felt repetitive. Dalgom's makes a satisfying takeout snack to carry out while browsing Jeil Market.

At Gyudongjip, the gyudon hansang wins on sheer volume, while the char siu jeongsik suits anyone who likes salty, well-seasoned meat — both in the 10,000-won range per person.

Paju army stew restaurant with certified Paju rice: Mom's Uijeongbu

Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae is a Korean restaurant specializing in budae jjigae (army stew) in Tanhyeon-myeon, near Heyri Village in Paju, Gyeonggi.
