Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch is a seafood stew and hot pot restaurant in Ansan, Gyeonggi, sitting right along the popular Daebudo driving route. On a weekend trip to Daebudo the writer ordered the boneless spicy monkfish stew (sunsal agujjim), which came with springy bone-free monkfish and plenty of roe and milt, plus 3 pieces of fried squid free through Naver's receipt review service. With a large parking lot and a brand-new, spotless dining room, Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch is an easy pick for a family meal.

Jeongja Station lamb house with kitchen-grilled 450g rack: Yangmadam

Yangmadam Bangchon Lamb, Bundang Direct Branch is a lamb specialty restaurant a 3-minute walk from Jeongja Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. At Geurine Oasis the lake view, the space and the pretty reusable cup stayed with her more than the coffee itself.

Bucheon pork BBQ restaurant selling banchan to go: Dwaeji Gongbang

Haenon Miyeok Ilsan Direct Branch is a Korean restaurant specialising in seaweed soup set meals on Anigol-gil in Ilsandong-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi. On a weekend lunch visit with a 20-month-old, the family ordered the abalone and boneless flounder seaweed soup set (26,000 won) and the beef seaweed soup set (20,000 won), paying 46,000 won for two, and found the baby chairs and self-serve bar made eating with a toddler easy. Uijeongbu BBQ: pork belly grilled with aged kimchi, Geuttaegeujip

Geuttaegeujip is a 24-hour cauldron-lid pork belly restaurant in the Sinsigaji food alley of Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. Two servings of pork belly came with soju and aged kimchi laid on the side of the cauldron lid where the fat runs off, and one serving of pork neck was added later.
