Sinho-dong Busan mulhoe restaurant for sashimi bibimbap: Suseong Susan

In short

Suseong Susan is a mulhoe (chilled raw fish soup) and sashimi bibimbap restaurant on Sinhosandan-ro in Sinho-dong, Gangseo, Busan. The order was milchi (gizzard shad) mulhoe and the 3-kind mixed sashimi bibimbap, with icy broth to mix noodles and rice into, plus live sashimi served on a separate plate so its freshness was easy to see. Cold mulhoe followed by a bowl of hot seaweed soup makes Suseong Susan an easy pick for a family meal in Busan.

I went half an hour after opening and it was already full... this place is famous for mulhoe, sashimi bibimbap, and daebang-eo (large yellowtail). They have baby chairs too, so it's great for family meals. It's actually my parents' favorite mulhoe spot.

Suseong Susan menu and prices

The signature dishes are mulhoe and sashimi bibimbap. In winter, I paid out of my own pocket for ₩180,000 worth of daebang-eo alone — it's a daebang-eo spot too! Dab, flounder, and milchi were all prepared as sashimi. You order through the kiosk at your table.

I ordered milchi mulhoe, my favorite kind of sashimi, and my mom — who doesn't like cold food — ordered the 3-kind mixed sashimi bibimbap.

Icy broth and live sashimi on a separate plate

The vegetables come piled up like a mountain, with the icy broth on top.

You might think there's not much broth, but once you stir it gently, it melts and there's plenty!

Each dish you order comes out neatly on its own tray, so you get to enjoy a clean, satisfying spread.

At other sashimi restaurants, everything's mixed together in the mulhoe, making it hard to check the condition of the fish by eye,

but at Suseong Susan, a mulhoe restaurant in Gangseo, Busan, the live sashimi comes out separately, so I could see the condition of the fish for myself and eat with confidence!

The sashimi bibimbap comes with the seasoning sauce on the side, so you can add as much as you like to suit your taste!

Mix the vegetables and icy broth gently (there are so many vegetables you won't gain weight)

Once the broth has melted a bit, in go the noodles. The broth is so tasty it goes really well with the noodles! Noodle refills are available too.

At Suseong Susan, ordering mulhoe or sashimi bibimbap gets you a whole abalone on the side, so you can enjoy abalone along with your sashimi. Getting the whole thing feels extra generous.

How the milchi mulhoe and 3-kind sashimi bibimbap taste

I really love the nutty, chewy texture and flavor of milchi, so ordering milchi mulhoe let me eat as much of it as I wanted.

My mom, who ordered the 3-kind mixed sashimi bibimbap, said she loved getting to enjoy flounder, dab, and milchi all in one bowl.

Adding the rice makes it a really hearty meal! A meal that feels like it's restoring your energy. A bite of cold mulhoe followed by hot seaweed soup — the best combination!!

Which dish should you order?

If you have a favorite type of fish, go for the single-fish sashimi bibimbap or mulhoe with just that fish. If you want to enjoy a variety of textures, I recommend the 3-kind mixed sashimi bibimbap or mulhoe!

A spread of mulhoe and sashimi bibimbap together

Minced garlic that Koreans love, a deep and refreshingly cool broth, chewy live sashimi, and plenty of vegetables all come out together in a clean, satisfying spread — Suseong Susan is a mulhoe restaurant in Gangseo, Busan you can enjoy anytime!

My mom said every single side dish was delicious and finished them all, and she even got a refill of the hot seaweed soup for one more bowl at the end haha. If you're looking for a mulhoe or sashimi bibimbap restaurant in Myeongji that comes out clean and delicious — a Myeongji sashimi restaurant — I recommend Suseong Susan!
