Ansan bakery café to share three breads over two coffees: Flowerpot

A place with a great variety of bread to choose from — my review of mont blanc, white roll and egg tart.

I was looking for a café in Gojan-dong, Ansan where I could enjoy bread and coffee together, and ended up at Flowerpot Cafe Gojan Branch. It's right behind AW Convention so it wasn't hard to find, and once inside, the bakery lineup was bigger than I expected.

That day I picked an Iced Americano, a hot café latte, mont blanc, white roll and egg tart. Here's how each tasted, along with the café's atmosphere and parking info.

Flowerpot Cafe Gojan Branch is at 164-12 Gwangdeok2-ro, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, 1st floor of Geumbada Building.

Since it's right behind AW Convention, it's fairly easy to find if you know the area. There's no dedicated parking lot, so if you're driving, you can use the public parking lot in front of Daelim Plaza nearby.

Walking in, the counter and bakery space came into view together. Overall it's clean and the spacing between tables is fairly generous, making it comfortable whether you're alone or chatting with a friend. Plants placed throughout gave it a bit of a planterior feel, matching the café's name.

How wide is the bread selection at Flowerpot Cafe?

What caught my eye first at Flowerpot Cafe was, of course, the bakery. The display case had so many kinds of bread that I spent a while just deciding what to pick. There was everything from salt bread to campagne, rolls, tarts, sandwiches, and more.

After going through each one, I finally landed on mont blanc, white roll, and egg tart that day.

Two coffees and three kinds of bread, all shared and compared.

Iced Americano and hot café latte

I started with the coffee. The Iced Americano leaned more nutty and clean rather than sharply acidic. Paired with bread, the coffee flavor didn't linger too strongly, which made it easy to drink alongside dessert.

The hot café latte had a smooth milky taste with a mild coffee aroma. This kind of soft latte went well with the sweeter breads and desserts.

Mont blanc

The first bread I tried was the mont blanc. From the outside alone, the visible layers made me curious even before taking a bite.

Cutting into it, the layers pulled apart softly and gave off a rich buttery flavor. It wasn't the kind of sweetness that hits hard, so it was easy to enjoy alongside coffee. Personally, I felt the flavor came together better with an Americano than eating it on its own.

White roll

Next was the white roll, which was, true to its name, pale and soft all over.

With a fluffy texture and a plain flavor, it's an easy pick for anyone who doesn't like strong flavors. It also worked well as a palate reset between the other breads.

Egg tart

Last was the egg tart. The outside was crisp while the inside stayed soft.

It had that distinct nutty egg flavor with just the right amount of sweetness, which made it easy to pair with coffee — personally, I thought it went best with the Americano.

How the three breads compared

Trying several kinds together, what stood out was that there isn't just one style of bread — you can pick based on your own preference. If you want something sweet, there's egg tart or mont blanc; if you want something plain, there's a simpler option like the white roll. It was also convenient that leftover bread can be packed yourself at the self-packing station and reheated in the microwave at home.

Is Flowerpot Cafe in Gojan-dong, Ansan worth a visit?

Flowerpot Cafe felt less like a coffee-only café and more like a bakery café where you pick your own bread to enjoy alongside coffee. The space is fairly spacious with comfortable seat spacing, making it a nice place to sit and relax, and the variety of bread made it fun to pick several and share.

Among what I tried that day, the mont blanc, white roll, and egg tart each had different flavors and textures, which made comparing them fun. If you're looking for a café with a wide bread selection in Gojan-dong, Ansan, or want to enjoy coffee and bakery together, it's worth a visit. Next time, I'd like to try the salt bread and other rolls I didn't get to this time.
