Bueokgan Haeundae Branch is a Western restaurant on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan. On a weekday lunch with her mom, the writer ordered the couple set for two — soup, salad, pasta and pizza plus two drinks — choosing sweet pumpkin soup, garden salad, carbonara and arugula pizza. The sunlit yellow seats by the window made Bueokgan an easy place to eat slowly and talk.
Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is an ocean-view Chinese restaurant in Haeundae, Busan, on the second floor above Subyeon Choigo Pork Gukbap. The visit covered a mapo tofu rice bowl, gochu ganjajang and black vinegar tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), all ordered from a tablet in a wide hall with plenty of space between tables. Of everything on the table at Bueokgan Chinese, the mapo tofu rice bowl is the dish worth ordering.

A regular at the Gwangan branch came with a friend for a late dinner and ordered YBD hire katsu, YBD loin katsu, meat curry and oolong tea, and rated the kkakdugi and salad sauce just as highly. With bar seating full of solo diners and a CatchTable kiosk outside for waiting, Hets Jeonpo is an easy stop for tonkatsu in Jeonpo.

On a drive out with a friend, the writer tried and ranked the three signature dishes — poached-egg five-layer pork gan-jjajang (10.0), kkanpung shrimp (28.0) and beef belly jjamppong (12.0) — rating the gan-jjajang and the shrimp a 200% return visit, while the sweet jjamppong broth disappointed anyone hoping for authentic heat. With George Nelson bubble lamps, wood furniture, curbside and underground parking and free corkage for up to 3 bottles, Bueokgan Chinese suits both dates and group gatherings.
Moshi Moshi Sushi Lotte Department Store Gwangbok is a Japanese restaurant on the 10th floor of the Lotte Department Store Gwangbok main building in Nampo-dong, Jung-gu, Busan. Booked for 5:30 p.m. on a Sunday, the writer and her mother shared set no. 2 — 16 pieces of sushi plus char siu and yaki udon for 58,900 won — with clean, bite-sized sushi that had no fishy smell and yaki udon loaded with squid, scallop, shrimp and meat. A 1-minute walk from Nampo Station, Moshi Moshi Sushi is an easy family dinner spot after shopping.
Moshi Moshi Sushi, Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch is a sushi and sashimi restaurant on the 8th floor of Lotte Department Store in Dongnae-gu, Busan. Two diners ordered the sashimi platter of tuna, salmon, flounder and abalone, a rich-broth ramen and shrimp tempura, and the sashimi was thick-cut with no fishy smell and plenty for two. With Dongnae and Myeongnyun stations both nearby and department store parking, Moshi Moshi Sushi works well for dinner on a shopping or movie day.
Suwolgyeonghwa is a traditional Korean-style tea and dessert café on the 4th floor of a building right by Songjeong Beach in Haeundae, Busan. From a window seat overlooking the beach and the Haeundae Beach Train, the order was hyeonwolhojicha (brown sugar hojicha), a Miguksik-gabae iced americano and a 13,000 won Dalbodre box, tasted clockwise from the injeolmi (chewy rice cake) skewer to the ganache monaka. For ocean views, tea and Korean desserts in one stop, Suwolgyeonghwa is a great pick.

On a weekend visit with his wife and younger daughter, the writer ordered from the table tablet — carbonara ₩19,000, jambon pizza ₩24,000 and grapefruit ade ₩6,500 — for a total of ₩49,500 for three. Between the window-side round sofa seats and a tablet that shows every photo and price, Bueokgan made a family meal out with a child easy.

On a quiet weekday visit with her father after his hospital discharge, the writer ordered shrimp anchovy oil pasta, abalone cream risotto and basil margherita pizza, and all three plates satisfied. Because Bueokgan has no break time, it is an easy place to sit down for a meal at any hour of your shopping trip.

Arriving at 5pm, right as break time ended, meant an ocean-view window seat and a table of gochu ganjajang at 10,000 won, beef brisket jjamppong at 12,000 won and a small black vinegar tangsuyuk at 28,000 won, plus free dumplings from the review event. The cooked dishes at Bueokgan Chinese run pricey, but the noodle and rice mains are cheap enough to keep bringing you back.

On an evening visit the special loin katsu was sold out, so the order became the Jeju black pork combo katsu and the YBD combo katsu, with loin and tenderloin compared on one plate and eaten in turn with salt, wasabi and truffle oil. If choosing a single dish feels impossible, the combo katsu at Hets Jeonpo Branch is the answer.

Bueokgan Chinese handles a formal client lunch and a relaxed family meal equally well.
