Roaster Burger is a handmade burger and pizza restaurant on Jeongjail-ro in Jeongja-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi. The white burger cost 13,900 won and the 10-inch combination pizza 17,800 won, 31,700 won in total, and what stayed with me was the cold, tangy onion white sauce and the toppings packed across the whole 10-inch pie. At dinner the order was gyukatsu 130g for 19,000 won, gyudon (beef rice bowl) for 13,500 won and a Hoka Hoka crispy roll for 2,500 won, with fried sweet potato served free as a starter. Grilling the gyukatsu on the tabletop brazier was fun, but the gyudon ordered with no expectations was the bigger surprise.
Mirinae Magic Theater Magic & Joy Gwanggyo is a 33-seat resident magic theater on the CGV floor of Galleria Department Store in Gwanggyo, Suwon. A couple and their 6-year-old son watched the 1-hour show, which mixed card, ring, balloon, fish and dove magic with a participatory format that brought children up on stage in turns. Magic & Joy Gwanggyo suits families who want a show carried by a magician's basic skill rather than big stage sets.
Grill the Terrace Dongtan Main Branch is a camping-style beef and pork belly grill house on Dongtanjiseong-ro by Dongtan's North Plaza in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. Visiting with a child, the writer ordered the Uiseong Garlic Combo (pork belly plus beef short rib) in its raw-meat version, and character baby dishware, a baby chair and a toy-and-book corner let the adults take their time over the charcoal grill. With dessert cold buckwheat noodles and steamed egg to finish, Grill the Terrace Dongtan Main Branch made for a family dinner with nothing left to wish for.
Yangchonri Donkaseu Millak Branch is a pork cutlet (donkatsu) restaurant in Millak-dong, Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. Visiting with her four-year-old son, the writer ordered two sets that each arrived with pork cutlet, udon, bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles) and grilled pork belly, and refilled side dishes and soup as often as she liked at the self-serve bar. The sweet-sauced cutlet was a hit with her son, and the salty udon broth was the best part of the meal.

Over lunch with her husband, the writer ordered the sundae-guk set (mixed), which arrives with pyeonyuk (boiled sliced pork) and sundae, along with a bowl of pork rib soup, and found that sundae refills are unlimited during peak hours. Pyeongando Restaurant Hwajeong Branch is an easy choice in Hwajeong-dong whenever you want a hot, filling bowl, no matter the hour.
Hair Onsae is a hair salon in Pungdong, Ilsandong-gu, Goyang, in the Burger King building across from Pungsan Station. Because of dry, frizzy hair, the writer booked a cut and a hair clinic together at Hair Onsae: designer Soyoung trimmed the hair quickly, and the clinic applied up to three treatment steps one by one, with a mist in between. The clinic is done lying down, so it felt closer to a healing session, and the hair came out smooth and bouncy afterwards.
Angry Potato Hyundai Department Store Jungdong Branch is a fries and fried chicken shop in the B1 food hall of Hyundai Department Store in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. We ordered four items to go — chewy potato, fries, whole mozzarella cheese sticks and Hot Crunch Chicken — and ate them at home, where the chewy potato clumped together slightly over time but kept a rice-cake-like chew. Since the freshly fried crispness is the whole point at Angry Potato, eat everything while it is still warm.
Bokkeriu is a Western restaurant with Han River views on Misadong-ro in Hanam, Gyeonggi. For a wedding anniversary, a couple ordered the steak set for two — sourdough, corn soup, ricotta cheese salad, shrimp bisque pasta, 200g Korean beef striploin and Basque cheesecake — added an eggplant ricotta pizza, and received the lettered dessert they had requested when booking. With a full glass wall over the river at night, Bokkeriu works well for a special-occasion dinner.

Director Junho gave the writer's husband a men's cut and an iron perm, applying the perm solution in two rounds because his hair is thin and limp, and neutralizing it while he lay back for a scalp massage. The finished look had natural, not-overdone volume that is easy to style at home.
Flowerpot Cafe Gojan Branch is a large bakery café on the first floor of the Geumbada Building in Gojan-dong, Ansan, Gyeonggi, right behind AW Wedding Hall. On a weekend visit with the kids after a meal, the order was salt bread, garlic baguette and meringue cookies with a blueberry smoothie, a strawberry latte and an americano, and the leftover bread went home in a box from the self-packing station in one corner of the shop. With baby chairs and wide seating, Flowerpot Cafe Gojan Branch is an easy stop for families.
