Yeongdong Milmyeon Dwaeji Gukbap has long been a go-to spot near Busan Station, and I heard they opened a new branch even closer to the station, so I went to check it out with the kids.

I used to work near Busan Station and still pass by often, so I frequently eat at restaurants around there. This spot isn't far from the station, so it's convenient before or after catching a train, and since it's a newly opened branch, the interior was clean, which made a great first impression.

The restaurant isn't inside Busan Station itself, but it's only about 300 meters from Exit 6, so it's an easy walk if you're already using the station. Take the escalator in front of the building and it's right there on the right, so it was easy to find.

Walking in, the first thing I noticed was the clean wood-toned interior. There were plenty of regular table seats, a long bench seat in the center, and window seats good for sitting side by side to eat.

A lot of people eat alone around Busan Station, and the window seats looked comfortable for solo dining too. Tablets were installed at every table, so you could take your time browsing the menu and order right from your seat, which was convenient. Being a new branch, everything felt clean and tidy overall, making it a nice spot to eat with kids too.

Suyuk baekban (boiled pork set) is 13,000 won, and suyuk alone is 29,000 won small / 39,000 won large; dumplings are also available. In summer you can go for Busan Station milmyeon, and when you want something more filling, go for gukbap — handy for matching different tastes when eating in a group. Suyuk baekban for the kids, sundae gukbap for me

That day the kids ordered suyuk baekban and I ordered sundae gukbap. The suyuk baekban comes with the boiled pork served separately, and there was more meat than I expected, plus it was tender. It wasn't dry at all — soft enough that the kids ate it without any trouble.

It was good dipped lightly in soy sauce, or eaten together with the soup for a filling meal. The soup that comes with the suyuk baekban was rich but not too heavy, and one spoonful had a subtle savoriness that kept me coming back for more.

For my sundae gukbap, I started by tasting the plain broth without adding much of anything. The broth was rich and savory but not overwhelmingly greasy, so it was good just as it was.

Next I added plenty of chives and garlic. The chives brought in extra aroma and paired well with the broth. I ate it this clean, mild way for a while, and then toward the end I stirred in the dadegi.

Once the dadegi dissolved in, the soup turned spicy in a completely different way from before, so it felt like enjoying two different flavors in one bowl. Starting mild and finishing spicy meant I never got tired of it to the last spoonful. Between spoonfuls of rich broth, a crunchy bite of kkakdugi or kimchi paired really well, and the mumallaengi kept my appetite going too. Personally, when I look for good pork gukbap near Busan Station, I care about the side dishes as much as the broth, and this time the basic banchan were satisfying across the board.

The kids enjoyed the tender suyuk baekban, and I started with the rich sundae gukbap plain, then added chives and garlic before finishing with dadegi for a proper spicy bowl I cleaned out completely. This is a great place to visit when you need a filling meal before or after using Busan Station, or whenever you're craving a bowl of pork gukbap near the station.
