Girin Samgyeopsal is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Yadang Station in Paju, Gyeonggi, specializing in aged domestic pork. Fresh pork belly (160g, ₩15,000) and pork neck (160g, ₩15,000) went on the cast-iron grill alongside thick-cut diced hangjeongsal, or pork jowl (160g, ₩13,000), for a cut-by-cut texture comparison, with doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice stew, ₩6,000) to cut the richness. Girin Samgyeopsal is most satisfying when you order several cuts plus a rice or noodle dish rather than sticking to one.

The roots sat flat and the ends fell in a thick C-curl, leaving hair that looked good worn down or tied up.

Ikkjujeokku is a Jeju black pork and white pork Korean BBQ restaurant in Gamil, Hanam, Gyeonggi, with a tented outdoor charcoal zone and a self-serve bar of lettuce wraps and side dishes. Visiting with a 10-month-old baby at 7pm on a weekday, the writer grilled Jeju white pork kimchi pork belly 200g (6,900 won per 100g) and Jeju black pork five-layer pork belly 300g; the black pork was sold out, but the white pork was still pleasantly chewy. Ikkjujeokku is a good Hanam Gamil BBQ spot when you want a camping mood over dinner.

Pocheon campground B10 valley site vs Starlight Zone: Byeolbit Camping

Byeolbit Camping Site is a drive-in campground right beside Damteo Valley in Gwanin-myeon, Pocheon, Gyeonggi. During one night at site B10, the writer swam and caught fish in the valley, used power with no outages, checked the wash-up sinks, restrooms and showers, and walked up to the Starlight Zone near the entrance. Even under a cloudy sky the stars poured down, so Byeolbit Camping Site is a clear return trip for both families with kids and couples.
