Jeongja-dong burger restaurant with custom patties: Roaster Burger

Roaster Burger is a handmade burger restaurant on the first floor of Emco Heritz Complex 4 on the café street in Jeongja-dong, Seongnam, Gyeonggi. The classic burger set with an extra patty cost 16,700 won and the double cheeseburger set with pickles swapped for jalapeño cost 15,500 won, both served with a thick, black-pepper-forward patty and chunky fries. Between the free customizing and 2 hours of free parking, Roaster Burger works well for a Jeongja-dong date or a family meal.

Gwangmyeong pork galbi restaurant with basement parking: Sodam Galbi

The writer parked in the restaurant's own basement lot and ordered handmade pork galbi (250g) for 16,000 won with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), then helped themselves to the all-you-can-eat tteokbokki self-bar, farm-grown lettuce and honey sweet pumpkin side dish. Sodam Galbi is an easy Korean BBQ stop with no parking worries on the way back from Gwangmyeong Cave or IKEA.

Maetan-dong burger lunch with shrimp rings and wings: 666 Burger Suwon

666 Burger Main Branch is a handmade burger restaurant near Maebong Park in Maetan-dong, Suwon. On this fourth visit the writer skipped the usual mushroom burger and ordered the Garlic Boom set (13,000 won) with buffalo wings (4,500 won) and shrimp rings (3,500 won). The Garlic Boom patty was soft and juicy and the first-time shrimp rings had a deep shrimp flavor, making 666 Burger Main Branch a satisfying solo lunch.

Dasan-dong galbi restaurant with rib doenjang jjigae set: Udontan

Udontan Dasan Main Branch is a premium beef galbi restaurant on the first floor of Hangang Plaza in Dasan-dong, Namyangju, Gyeonggi. Boulangerie Tan, Hyundai Department Store KINTEX is a bakery on the basement food floor of Hyundai Department Store KINTEX in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang. Hyangdong Korean restaurant serving sogokju by the glass: Doonjeong

Doonjeong is a Korean restaurant in Hyangdong, Deokyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi, near Sangam DMC, specialising in clear gomtang (beef bone soup) made with 100% domestic hanwoo cow. The writer's table at Doonjeong brought clear hanwoo gomtang, hanwoo yukhoe bibimbap (raw beef with rice) and a side of seasoned meat muchim, paired with a glass of Hansan sogokju rice wine, and the broth was clean enough that even a companion who rarely drinks soup emptied the bowl. Two straight years on the Blue Ribbon Survey list, 2025 and 2026, make sense after a meal like this.

Nyanya is a large café on the fifth floor of the 25 Siquare building in Gojan-dong, Ansan, Gyeonggi, and it keeps two resident cats. We ordered the signature cream Hong Kong waffle, a peanut cream latte and a matcha latte, and the Hong Kong waffle was nutty and soft with a texture unlike a regular waffle. With plenty of sofa seating and wide open views, Nyanya suits dates as well as family and group gatherings.

Flounder fin sushi in Yeongtong, Suwon: Teukbyeolhan Chobap

Teukbyeolhan Chobap (특별한 초밥) is a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant on the 2nd floor of Yeongtong Central Shopping Center in Suwon, Gyeonggi, where every plate is a flat 1,890 won. On a weekday lunch, two people sat at the bar seats and ate 25 to 30 plates, and the flounder fin, egg with shrimp, and freshly fried shrimp tempura were the best of them. Teukbyeolhan Chobap is worth a visit if you want to try a wide range of sushi without watching the bill.
